Hi, folks.

I've been using the combos, now i want to try something else. But i don't have too much knowledge about the cabs and heads.

Basson B15B

[attachment=22177:69649_b.gif]

■Speaker : 1×15” (BASSON ORIGINAL SPEAKER搭載)+ Horn
■Power : 300W RMS
■Sensitivity : 98db~120db
■Impedance : 8Ω
■Frequency : 40Hz - 4kHz

■Size : 616W×488D×746H/mm

Will there be any problem if i combine this 4ohms head with the 8ohms cab and what's the final output?

Or any other suggestions for the cab?

Cheers! :)

Hi mate,

I used to have a BAsson 210 cab and although it sounded great, it was extremely heavy and, more importantly, very power hungry. I was driving it with a Mesa 400+ valve head and even that struggled to power it suficiently. The 15 is not SO hungry but I don't think you will get much volume from it with a 280w head (at 4 ohm... the cab is 8 ohm so you will get maybe 180w at 8 ohm)

I would go looking for a lighter and more efficient speaker.

Cheers

Hi. I assume you're in the UK? Is the cab new or used, ie what's your budget? I think Basson cabs are very heavy and not very well known in the UK so resale could be a problem. Unless the Basson is giving you a particular sound that you want I'd look at more mainstream cabs, like Ashdown, TE, GK, Peavey.

The B15B doesn't suffer those maladies, being loaded with an Eminence Delta 15 that's of moderate weight and adequate sensitivity. However, the Delta 15 has a paltry 2.7 mm xmax, which displacement limits it to only 50 watts capacity through most of the bass range. That makes the Delta 15 unsuited for use in other than a low power combo.
