We will be at:

Ah wow....I saw you guys many years ago at Woughton Centre in Milton Keynes. There were only about 40 people there but you still put on one hell of a show. I took some great pics as you guys were whoring about on stage! :)

Glad to hear you're still gigging - rock on dude!!

I guess it's tough as a KISS tribute band in the UK as they aren't at all popular over here compared to the US. To be honest, the only song of theirs that I know is that Crazy nights thing. They are one of those bands that I'm always thinking I should get their greatest hits and see what they are all about.

Aye, our attendances range from 70 people to 300 people.... enough to create some noise but not quite 'theatre' size.

Personally, I'd say to give the'Greatest Hits' a miss and go straight for 'KISS Alive' & 'KISS Alive II' :)

Got to agree!

Not saying they didn't do anything good after 79ish but tbh I grew up. :)

My 'growing up' remark isn't meant to be derogatory to them, as they'll always be special to me (Wembley 80 is forever burned in my mind... literally as I was pressed up against the barrier when Gene was breathing fire  ).

There are loads of Kiss compilations out there, but as Cetera and Warwickhunt have said, the live albums give the best introduction to the band. I think Double Platinum is a fairly decent introduction to their early material as well, but most of what's on there is also on Alive I and II.

Unpopular is it may be amongst Kiss die-hards, I'm also a fan of the 80s stuff - well, some of it :) . I was listening to Crazy Nights the other day and I still think that's a fantastic 80s rock album. In fact, Alive III was my introduction to the band - the version of Creatures of the Night on there is possibly my favourite Kiss track/version.

On a similar note, I was going through my old music magazines last week and came across a live review in Kerrang! from 94/95 for none other than Dressed to Kill! There was a great shot of 'Gene' leering at the camera and I think it was from a venue in London (the Forum?). I'm also pretty sure that it said Peter Criss (the real Peter Criss) played a couple of songs with the band. Does that ring any bells, Mr Cetera?

Ah yes, that was the KISS Expo at the Astoria 2 (now Mean Fiddler) with special guest Peter Criss (ex-KISS)! Our friend Dave Reynolds at Kerrang reviewed that... and gave us a great review... including mentioning how sh*t Peter was and how we looked relieved to have our own 'Peter' back on the drums! Good times :)

I am pretty sure I saw you at The Robin in Brierly Hill many years ago. Great show.

I used to be a full on pinball machine, doll and all the coloured vinyl owning member of the Kiss Army. I sold the lot and bought a MIJ P. I actually got chronically ripped off on the pinball front. I bought it for £150, sold it for £250 and then instantly discovered that they were changing hands for £600.

Where was the interwebz then eh?

Paul.

Ah yes, the Robin! We still play the Robin 2 in Bilston.... great venue! :)

Sounds like you knew your KISS memorabilia though! I've got loads of their collectables, coloured vinyls, pic discs, dolls etc... and I still have my pinball machine. Cost me £300 a few years back, prob worth over £1000 now....

Mr. Fudge does a gig at the Robin 2 every now and again. I think he is there this month.

Yeah I was a real collector back then. I have a great story about the pinball machine...if you have a few spare minutes... :)

The first one I found was in a barn in Leicester. It was completely knackered and had the European style logo. However I left the guy a £25 deposit to do a bit of work on it. A month later he had disappeared and the barn was empty. Fast forward a couple of years and I was talking to a friend of a friend who was a novice for a local biker gang. He said that there was a Kiss pinball machine in their clubhouse...and it had the original logo. In all honesty it is quite a crap game, so he said I could have it for £150 which is what they needed to get a better one.

That is when it went all cloak and dagger. My brother and I in his works van had to meet the gang in a quiet location in the middle of the night. We were then escorted by a dozen or so bikers to a house down a side road. The windows were all blacked out and you could smell the weed from outside! They made us wait outside for ages while various and I assume more important bikers came out to check us out. Eventually we were allowed in.

It was all painted black, the stereos were cranked nice and high and there was porn on every single TV.

I handed the money over and we put the machine in the van.

Then they started to insist we had a drink to seal the deal. By now it was about 4am and we both had to be in work in a couple of hours. I refused a drink and that's when they started to get a bit pushy. Lots of "Not good enough to drink with?" comments were made. Me being a younger and angrier version of myself, I stood up for myself just enough to make sure it all kicked off!

The night ended with a mad dash for the van and a short but exciting chase through the streets of Wednesbury! Needless to say we survived to tell the tale!

That's an awesome tale! Nearly taking a biker-gang-beating, all in the name of Kiss merchandise. You definitely earned your Kiss Army membership with that...
+1,000,000!! :)

Consider yourself a 'General' in the 'KISS Army'!

Gotta hand it to Paul that's one hell of a story! Fair does to you, as much as I want the covetted pinball machine I think I'd have made a swift dash for it!
Not quite on the same level... but I once went to the 6th form fancy dress party in full Ace regalia (that I managed to cobble together in the two weeks I had), knowing full well it was in the local football club.

I got given a lift but due to the bollards outside the clubs grounds had to walk the final stretch up the hill in my platforms. I got to the club, walked through the door and handed the doorman my ticket. Following the rather strange look he gave me he pointed me in the direction of the hall. Unbeknown to me I had to walk past the bar, which was full to capacity with drunken football boys after a game and had 2 rather huge windows which I had to walk past. I hastily got by with a shower of pointing and jeering.
I walked into the hall and not one person recognised me, everyone I said hello to had to ask who I was.
The night too rather a bitter turn due to the vast amount of alcohol that was consumed, the football boys managed to find their way in and bottled my mate who was dressed as Elvis (he was stood next to the entrance), luckily my other mate who was dressed as Willy Wonka grabbed hold of him pulled him in my direction and we made a rather swift escape out of the fire exit.
What a bizarre scene that must have been. Elvis, Willy Wonka, Ace Frehley and a collection of other random people including the village people legging it down the drive of a football club...
'Elvis' rented his costume and lost his deposit cos of the bloodstains.

Urrnnggghhhh... yet another tale of beered up thuggery ruining it for everyone... Still, the thought of the unlikely trio making a hasty exit does create an amusing image. Glad you got out alive (and with your outfit intact!) I think you also deserve Kiss props, for braving the full on outfit in a country that has yet to appreciate Kiss in the way that they do over the pond. If it'd been a US high school dance circa 1978, not only would you have been hailed as a hero, you would undoubtably have gotten laid. Several times.

Can we turn this into the official 'Kiss Kuriosities' thread?

When I think of it, it always reminds me of that scene in the Christmas episode of Father Ted when they all pile out of the fire exit in the lingerie section.
The really annoying bit is I lost ALL my photos when my computer died about 18 months ago, I had some really funny shots too.
I did just find a shot of Elvis and Wonka though!

Good story.

I took the easy route one year and dressed as Gene off the "Dressed to Kill" album. Make up and a bad suit.

Not a single person knew who I was supposed to be so I stopped explaining it pretty early into the night. I did scare several small children though which is always a bonus! :)

Paul.
