Bilbo Posted Tuesday at 20:54 Author Posted Tuesday at 20:54 (edited) Another Holland tune, the beautiful 'Equality' from the 1996 Quartet album, 'Dream Of The Elders'. The tune features the moody vocals of Cassandra Wilson and the poetry of Maya Angelou. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/equality-vocal-version-dave-holland-quartet/ Edited Tuesday at 20:55 by Bilbo Quote
Bilbo Posted Wednesday at 09:13 Author Posted Wednesday at 09:13 (edited) Something from Branford Marsalis's 1987 recording, 'Random Abstract', this is the complete Delbert Felix bass part for the Monk tune, 'Crepuscule With Nellie'. Interesting structure and very 'Monkish' phrasing. Just three times through the melody but some challenges in there, nevertheless. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/crepuscule-with-nellie-branford-marsalis/ Edited Friday at 20:05 by Bilbo Quote
Bilbo Posted Friday at 20:03 Author Posted Friday at 20:03 I have had to abandon two transcriptions this week because, having got half way through, something derailed the transcription and I had to abandon (essentially, I tried things that I couldn't hear the bass part properly, even after a MOISES re-mix). So, in an effort to keep things moving, I have put together an easy one that most of us have a chance of reading, the complete Jeff Berlin bass performance on the tune 'Small Wonder' from the 1988 Kazumi Watanabe album, 'The Spice Of Life Too'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/small-wonder-kazumi-watanabe/ 2 Quote
Bilbo Posted Friday at 21:28 Author Posted Friday at 21:28 I am in this kind of mood this evening. Jimmy Bain's bass part for the tune 'Tarot Woman' from the 1976 Rainbow 'Rising' album. Don't you just love that synth intro? https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/tarot-woman-rainbow/ 1 Quote

Much appreciated. I’ve been to lots of IQ gigs, but I’ve never yet been asked to dep for Tim, but I will now be prepared (apart from me not having a Stingray 5 🤣 ) Quote

Mattz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Whattta gold mine! I am curious how to view the pdfs. When I click on them I'm taken to a page that says it cant be found. Thanks! Matt Quote
Bilbo Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Which ones are you clicking on, Mattz? I will have a look and see whether the problem is at this end. If you are clocking on the links on this thread, a lot of the old ones don't work as there have been several site upgrades since they were posted and they no longer work. You can find everything on the website. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/ Edited 1 hour ago by Bilbo Quote
