GONE: Acorn Archimedes A410/1 (Upgraded to A440 spec)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

As advertised, consisting of base unit, keyboard and mouse. Original CRT monitor has long since bitten the dust. Owned by me since new (mid-late '80s). Can't remember what's on it but there will be some games of the period, plus Impression and Pipedream and possibly some other stuff as well. I have all the original manuals for the machine. I also have original disks and user manuals for most of the software. It worked ok the last time I fired it up a few years ago.

As indicated, this unit was upgraded to A440 spec and fitted with a W.E. 30mHz processor replacing the original 20mHz jobbie. I'm told there's a bit of a market for this type of kit but it's moved house with us several times and I haven't found that market yet. Hopefully someone around here knows more about it than I do...

We're moving house soon so I don't have the time to do any P&P. Collection/handover only please. I live in the Solihull area not far from the A34 Stratford Road but can travel within reason.

Hi Tony. We're about 15 miles round the M42 from the M5 junction. We go that way from time to time so know the road well. We could go south towards Worcester or north towards Halesowen. Alternatively there's Hopwood services a few miles up the M42. In our Fiesta a fiver would cover fuel pretty well (maybe a tenner for the Worcester area). We have a busy few days ahead but I can be around on Thursday or next Monday. Early Friday or late Sunday are also possible at a pinch.

Since posting I've dug up a bunch of other books and software on 3.5" floppies. You're welcome to everything I can find.

Let me know. Once we move I've promised my wife it will go one way or another. I would love it to go to someone who knows about it, but after carting it around from place to place for around 20 years I will reluctantly take it to the local recycling centre if needs must.

Andy

Hi Andy ,

hopwood services would be  great and I don't mind paying a tenner .

The only problem I'm travelling from Manchester down to Devon on Friday eve.

Would that be possible ?

We're heading over to North Wales on Friday evening and back probably Sunday afternoon. I imagine you'll be going M6/M5. I'll have a look at our travel itinerary to see if there isn't somewhere we can meet up. Message me with some approximate timings and I'll see what I can do.

ETA It would need to be an exchange on the outward journey as I'm doing a track day on Saturday.

Failing that I should be able to talk Mrs. LBM into letting me hold on to it until we arrange an exchange.

OK, what we have here is an Avon P-bass, model number 3428, from the mid 1970's. Made in Japan, with what looks like a 3 piece ash body and maple neck.
As far as I know it's all original, with the exception of the knobs which are recent due to the originals having gone walkabout for some reason. Plays and sounds great, strung with 45-100 D'Addarios. Action is medium / low. Only thing it could do with are two machine head bushings - the tuners all work fine though. Weight wise it's on the lighter side - my rather primitive scales say around 7.5 to 8 lbs, and it does feel like it. For a 40+ year old bass it's in pretty good condition - some marks etc but nothing horrible. PM me for more pics if you're interested. All in all a great Japanese P-bass for the price of a s/h Squier.
Cash on collection greatly preferred - I'm in East Yorkshire 10 miles west of Hull. Possible help with delivery / meet up, depending on where and when of course. I do travel around a bit, so you never know! Postage / courier is an option, but would probably need to involve a hard case at an additional cost.
      Any questions please ask, cheers.

For sale is my 1962** Hofner/Selmer 182/Professional solid body bass w/ original Diamond Logo Pickups.
The bass is not all original but still has a lot of original features. A previous owner has refinished the body in white and fitted a crescent-shaped rest to the body. Other than that, the hardware, pickups, controls etc all seem to be the ones originally bestowed upon it. Volume and tone pots are generally functional but a bit loose and noisy. I suspect it's nothing a soldering iron and a touch of patience can't fix. Frets all appear to be in good condition and the bass is currently strung with light round-wound strings.
The bass plays really nicely and has tonnes of vintage character!
Cash on collection only from South-East London. Can also include the basic gig bag sold to me with the bass. Offers considered.
** According the Hofner list of serial numbers, this particular bass is actually dated around 1962 (http://www.hofner.com/media/wysiwyg//Serial_Numbers/selmer_numbers.pdf)

A few pedals for sale as I'm switching things up a bit... the darkglass comes with a box, the other two don't I'm afraid. Prices include postage to UK mainland.
Darkglass Vintage - £160  £150 (needs no introduction - I liked this one so much I've now gone and got a Vintage Ultra!)
JHS Pandamonium - £170 £160 (this one is a great preamp with drive and gated fuzz in one unit) SOLD
      Line6 Bass Pod - £50 £30 SOLD
Feel free to ping me if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.

Hi, I was playing a gig at a venue that has a shop built onto it and i came across this old Carlsbro bass head.
I was very tempted to buy it just to see what it was like, they wanted £60 for the bass head and £50 for the slave.
Can anyone give me some information on this? is it a good price or will it be a waste of money?
Never used Carlsbro before, it was the vintage look that drew me to it.

      Thanks.

HH V-S Bassamp for sale. 100 watts into 4 ohms.
This is probably over 40 years old!  It powers up and plays fine, but can sometimes be slightly intermittent so could do with a good service I think. May be just needing the pots cleaned etc, but selling it as 'spares and repairs' so as not to be misleading. Overall it's in good condition for it's age, and the backlit front panel works fine and is not cracked, unlike many you see advertised.
Amp is in East Yorkshire, west of Hull. Collection preferred but meet up or delivery possible. Am guessing postage would be around £12, but can get an accurate quote if you're interested Also a few more pics available if you want to PM me. Cheers.
