Up for sale is my Vintage ’58 Precision Bass “look-a-like” and it’s a beauty!!!

I would like to point out that this is NOT a genuine FENDER Vintage ’58 Precision Bass

I put this bass together only 6 month's ago, all the parts used were brand new, and the body alone cost £275.

Neck: Allparts Maple Jazz Neck with 38mm GraphTech Tusq Nut
Body: Genuine Fender Mexican Alder Sunburst
Tuners: Hipshot Ultralite HB6C 1/2 Chrome Tuners
Bridge: High Mass (identical to Gotoh 201)
Scratchplate: Gold Anodised
Pickup: Hotrod “Thumper” Precision Bass Pickup
Electrics: KiOgon Solderless Wiring Loom, CTS Pots

Due to the 50’s scratchplate only having ten screws, one of them doesn’t quite bite into the body as it should do, so I have added a little piece of blu tack to help keep the screw in place, this can’t be seen as it is underneath the scratchplate.

It plays and sounds great, particularly with the jazz width neck fitted, and you are welcome to come and try it out for yourself.

Collection would be preferred, but I would ship if the buyer is happy to pay the shipping costs.

No trades please as I am trying to thin out my collection.

I have included a photo of an original ’58 below to show you how close it is to the original which costs £1,784.00

Nice bass, just sold my 50's classic P because the neck was too wide....Where are you located?
Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

The neck on this bass is 38mm, I love precisions but I always fit jazz necks to them as I also find the P necks too wide.

Hey thebrig - you don't half put some cracking looking basses together!
If I was looking for a nice gigging P bass for not too much dosh - I'd be all over this:)

GLWTS
Thanks for the kind words Marc, I've put a fair amount together over the last few years, I just get so much pleasure sourcing the parts and then putting them all together, trouble is, I need to move some on so I can start all over again on a new project, and yes, I do usually lose money on them because I usually sell them for a lot less than I spent on on them.

I've repaired a couple of basses - a new neck on an old 70's Japan, Matsumoko P bass
I was lucky to get the loaded body very cheaply. I ended up with a lovely bass, sounded great, felt nice to play
Sold it for a small profit (wish I'd kept the pickup though - sounded fab)

But you're right - put a nice bass together from parts, and made nowt on it
I can see how it's easy to lose money, building from decent components, sadly
Just had to look at this again though - it looks a lot like the Fender MIM '50's P - but a fraction of the price
Stunning colours & grain on that body :)
