After the model update - NEW PRICE - 1200GBP
Hello everyone,

So... I got the bass of a very nice gentleman from Germany (got it through BC) and fell in love with it. Did not put it down for over a month. Now looking for a change.

It is a beautifully made instrument. Handmade in Germany. Great, powerful, modern sound - that's the reason for sale.
Condition is really good. I would say 8.5/10 with only few minor dings.
The finish is custom - road worn kind of thing - it's hard to capture on the photos, so I had to use the flash.

- one piece maple neck with rosewood fingerboard
- alder body
- Delano JSBC pickups
- Marleaux 2Bd-EQ + passive tone control
- ETS tuning fork
- Schaller tuners
- Scale: 864 mm / 34"
- Nut: 38 mm

Sound samples: https://www.youtube....h?v=PrSInADdrWk

Comes with original Marleaux Canto case (Usually about 165 Euros on top)

I would consider trades for a vintage precision/MM or partial trades for a MIJ Fender Precision with Rosewood fingerboard. Anyway, if you're interested and have an interesting offer - let me know and we'll go from there.

Here's the link for the photos - more available on request.

Bet this is beautiful - shame Photobucket directs me into an endless stream of ads

It is also on gumtree - https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/marleaux-votan-xs-black-4-string-bass-guitar-with-original-case/1206013031

Phone - Photobucket has become completely unusable for me as a result. I don't bother looking at ads with photos on them any more. A Gumtree link is a great idea (:

Hello Sasha,

You are right - the bass in your link looks the same so might as well be this one.
However, when you go online and check Marleaux Votan XS #5 in the gallery here: http://www.marleaux-..._votan_xs0.html it looks the same too.

Do you know what the differences are? I can notice that mine has fret markers too, when the ones on the photos do not. Apart from that - they look the same.

I have messaged Gerald himself with some detailed photos of the bass to confirm the model and year.

BASS ON HOLD until it is clear what I am selling.

Thank you for your information Sasha.

Hey Pawel,

the normal XS has no plate on the back, the neck is fixed only with screws.
The wood is also different, it´s alder.
This makes the bass a bit "cheaper", but electronics etc. are the same.
I have a Votan x-tra too and love it, but without the picguard and no dots.
So I guess yours is a little special...

Cheers,
Sascha

Thank you for that, isn't the neck a little bit slimmer on the XS too?
I love this bass a lot and I wouldn't let it go if I didn't have to.
Anyway, I will wait for Mr Gerald Marleaux to reply with the details and then adjust the listing and the price.

Kind Regards
Pawel

weight? how would you describe the neck (for instance, against the Fender Precision or Jazz)?
and is this different from a standard Votan?
Hello, the differences between the standard Votàn can be found above in the comments - type of wood on the body and neck plate.

The neck to me is very comfortable. A lot smaller than precision and very similar/little thicker than standard jazz. To me the bass is very easy to play and the neck is really fast. It's probably the most comfortable bass I've played - but then again - I haven't been playing bass for that long.
I guess it's best to try it yourself :-)
