Iheartreverb Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Hi guys, just wondering if anyone call help me out with the service manual/ wiring diagram for an orange terror bass 500. Mine died the the week and orange haven't been useful in supplying one at all. Can't find it on google or anything. Thanks in advance! Cheers! Quote
PigBass Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Hi, just did a search and found this: http://music-electronics-forum.com/t38470/ is it what you were looking for? If the link doesn't work I downloaded the files so just pm me. Quote
Iheartreverb Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Absolute legend sir. Thanks very much! Quote
P_bass_1983 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Am thinking about buying one of these but you saying yours died has worried me a bit! Would you recommend or not? My other option is an Ashdown ABM 500 head. Cheers Quote
Quilly Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I have one of the early orange terror bass amps and it completely died on 2 seperate occasions. The first time it was still under warrantee so orange repaired or for me, the second time I had it fixed locally and that fixed it for good. There's a design flaw regarding the power amp capacitors. It's been going great now for a few years. Sounds great. Top Tip: replace the 12ax7 tubes wiry 12at7 tubes. They're not as gainey and give a cleaner sound. Quote
bassmachine2112 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Hiho been using mine for almost 4 years now. It,s the later one with the DI fixed ,better valves and capacitors. Best amp ever.100 gigs a year and practice on top .The trick is getting the EQ right. For flat EQ bass-9 o clock,middle-12 o clock,treble-3 o clock and take it from there.my settings are bass-3 o clock, middle 12 o clock,treble-12 o clock,gain-11 o clock, volume whatever needed on the night usually 10 0 clock Quote
P_bass_1983 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Cheers guys. Yeah I have heard glowing reports, I wonder why they discontinued it? I like a bright pop-punky Dirnt/Hoppus sound, will one of these do that? Quote
Quilly Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Should do. It's has more of a valvey old school tone than hi fidelity fizz. Quote
Iheartreverb Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 I can't fault the sound of mine. It was completely the missing part to the puzzle after failed attempts with Ashdown and Ampeg. So much of a thicker, fuller tone to it. Got mine second hand and had no previous issues so please don't let me put you off picking one up if you can Quote
bassmachine2112 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 hiho, just stick a sansamp or behringer bdi21 in front of the amp and you got it Quote

Stub Mandrel Posted Tuesday at 13:15 Posted Tuesday at 13:15 Weird issue on my Terror 500 mk2. The on-standby-off switch is now on-standby-standby and yhe light vomes in straight away. Looks like there's a slow-start delay circuit issue or a stuck relay, but would like to see schematic before opening up. Quote
PigBass Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) I downloaded these some time ago, they may be for the Mk1 but they might be of use. Good luck. TB500_AMP_SCH.pdf TB500_INPUT_SCH.pdf TB500_PSU_SCH.pdf TB500_wiring diagram.pdf Edited 16 hours ago by PigBass Bad spelling Quote

They are mk 1 I think but there are some useful clues*. Stuck on a hospital trolley with vertigo since Saturday night (when the fault appeared) butshould be home soon. I've contacted Orange for the Mk 2 schematics... worth asking! I hadn't seen the wiring diagram before and this may be very similar to the mk2. Edited 16 hours ago by Stub Mandrel Quote
