Folks,

I am toying with forking out around the £250 mark for either a Squire Modified Jazz or the Precision version, can anyone shed any light on their plus and minus points? or should I stick nother hundred on and go for a Fender Standard Series model? Money is a bit tight at present.

Ta,

Steve.

I had the jazz and it was really nice. Looks good, low action, easy to play, sounds good :) On sale here for £200: http://www.reidys.com/index.pl?submit=View_PLU&PLU=5134

Was fairly heavy though and I replaced the bridge because the stock one is like a standard Fender and not particularly substantial.

I've got the jazz version and I'm very impressed. Having said that, I tried out four of them in different retailers, before I found what I considered to be a good one.

I have also replaced the bridge and the pick ups. It was very playable before the mods, but much improved after.

I haven't found the weight an issue and have played a number of long gigs with it.

All in all a very good instrument and money well spent. I won't be selling mine anytime soon.

I've just bought a VM Jazz off a fellow 'chatter and I'm over the moon with it.It looks impressive, feels nice and sounds good. It's slightly heavy though, but I guess thats a personal thing.I've got a Gotoh 201 bridge on order for it,just to finish it off,as well as a series/parallel push-pull pot (!).Definitely a keeper.
