Year of Ampegs to avoid??

So I've heard a lot about avoiding Ampegs that were made by loud but what I saw on wiki, they were bought by them in the 80s? well... the company who changed their name to Loud. I may have got this wrong, so....

I am trying to choose between a VR and a CL. I like the simplicity of the CL and will be running a sansamp RBI into it (I'm going a lot on recommendations, but do love the sansamps I've heard in smaller shows.)

So, what years should I be avoiding of the models?

Cheers!

Amps - great from any period, but MiC, miV and MiK may have slightly worse cosmetics, components are the same, most of the time from the same manufacturer :)

Cabs - avoid Made in USA 2000-2006, they are mad of OSB, whereas Korean, Chinese and Vitnamese are real thing, just like oler US Made ones.

If you want an 8x10, try to find one before they went all specmanship. The late (post mid 90's?) cabs with more than 350W handling were horribly scooped and excursion limited. Yeh they took more power but they were far less efficient and sounded awful. The same sort of philosophy that motivates chavs to install 1000W stupidly inefficient woofers in their cars.

Until recently I had a B410hlf that was made in China. I couldn't say what year it was but it had that Ampeg was an SLM company on th plate so I'd assume before 2005ish. It was very well made. I had a look inside and saw it was made of good quality ply, well put together, lined with foam and decently braced. It sounded great as well.
