Bare Knuckle Jazz Pickups

Hi,

I'm planning on changing the pickups in my Jazz Bass. I was considering trying a set of Bare Knuckles. I have a set of BK P90's in a guitar and would honestly say they are about as good as it gets! Never heard their bass pups though. Anyone used em?
Cheers,

Mario.
I haven't used Bare Knuckle pickups (other than in a Sei I tried at the Gallery...err, uplugged) but I have Wizards in a Sei Jazz - I've been extremely impressed: you may wish to consider them as an alternative to the BKs.
If it was a singlecut that's my Sei. It has Bare Knuckles and they sound very good. I think they'll wind to your preference; the bass wasn't built for me but I believe Alex asked them for something specific. Of course it also has a Demeter circuit and is a through neck with a maple and macassar ebony top, so it's difficult to say what the pickups would sound like without the circuit and in a Fender-type bass.

Do Wizard pickups have the tonal quality that BK's do? I have had no experience of them so would be buying blind. I have BK Mississipi Queens in a SG and I love them. They have such a rich musical quality, with no harshness what so ever. I know the BK's are more expensive than the Wizards, but just because something is more expensive it doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Anyone got any Wizards in a Jazz?

That sounds like the 33" scale "melt" Sei to me (will be embarrasing if I got this wrong :) )

"If it was a singlecut that's my Sei."

I don't want to hijack the thread, but it was a 'melted' singlecut 33" scale - 4000 if that's yours, I'm really envious - it's absolutely gorgeous! I was very close to buying myself but was looking for something shorter. Back on track - as others have said, I think Andy (Wizzard) will wind to your spec. This isn't cheap but it's not too expensive either. The Wizzards in the Sei Jazz are a custom wind but I don't know what was specced when they were commissioned (the bass has had a few owners and I didn't fit the Wizzards). To me the pickups sound very even across the range (B-G), open and articulate - they're also very full and clean (the ciruit is a Bartolinin 9v - this obviously has a major impact but the pickups sound great with the bass in passive).
