Use amp as DI box

Just a quick question for all the experts on here. I was thinking about using my GB Streamliner without a cab and just the Direct out. Is that going to damage the power section of the amp at all or is it just fine?

I do this sometimes without a problem.

I think I've read that it can cause problems for valve power amps but don't quote me on that.

Always check a manual (available online), but it shouldn't be an issue with a solid state head. I run my Shuttle 9.0 as a DI with no speaker load.

Generally only (power) valve amps need a cab connected to be safely operated, no problem with solid-state (class AB/D/etc.) amps even when they do have one or more valves [u]on the preamp[/u].

You can run it as a simple DI with no problem.
I did it sometimes with mine as well, and even on the manual it sais that you can drive it w/o cabs.

I use my Streamliner as a DI for recording and for some live work, just turn the master volume down and away you go. The quality really is amazing and there is no messing about with noisy power supplies!
I was looking at buying a Reddi but the Streamliner DI is good enough for me not to bother.
