Westfield P bass

I play more guitar at home these days with not being in a band so thinking of selling my bass to get some guitar related gear and replacing bass with a cheap 2nd hand p style.

I used to use an Encore P bass ages agoand it provided some great recorded tones and I think something inexpensive and simple like a 2nd hand Westfield P may fit the bill, as seen these go for peanuts.

Are these as good and fit for purpose as people say? Are they nice enough to play for just recording and odd sporadic jam?

I've owned two, both bought second-hand. One I sold on as a project; it wasn't great but it worked. The other has a second P pup added and I think is a keeper. For what they cost they are good, and a little time on tidying them and maybe upgrading the pup seems to produce quite a lot of bang for your buck. The P-P has Wilkinson pups, and they sound fine to me.

Bought a Westfield P about 5 years ago for £20... Solid wee bass. Chucked the mother-of-toilet seat pickguard and bought a mint one from someone here for a tenner. Stuck a SD QP in it I had sitting around. It sits at my mates/sometime guitarists house ready for my next visit.
