Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-string...with a 'ray bridge pickup???

Yeah, I've just been wondering to myself....

You see, I've got GAS atm for a white, Fender Deluxe jazz fiver with a maple fretboard, but I'm not particularly enamoured with the sound of the Jazz bridge pickup. I do like the sound of the Musicman Stingray's pickup, soooooooo......could, for example, a Seymour Duncan SMB-5D 5-string ceramic jobby be made to fit a Fender? (I may be inexperienced and naive, and I may be committing a cardinal sin, even in asking, lol).

I really like the look and feel of the Fender, as compared to a Stingray 5, and so a combination of the two would be, for me, the best of both worlds.

Cheers, peeps.

or to be more accurate regarding a maple board... http://www.fender.com/en-GB/basses/dimension-bass/american-deluxe-dimension-bass-v-hh-maple-fingerboard-natural/

Well, mate, yes...and no. I think that I may be a little conservative and set in my ways, but the appearance of the Dimension just doesn't do it for me. The humbucker may be an entirely different matter though, and might make more "sense" (if, indeed, I am being sensible, lol) than a Stingray pup.

Now if that can come with a maple board then I'd be very interested :)

I have one of those Sandbergs. It's brilliant!

Just configure it how you like and order it.

Do you know what? It's strange just how Fender-centric I've become over the years, without even realising it. I mean, I'm aware of Sandbergs, I've seen them advertised and I've noticed that they're talked about with high regard, but I've really never allowed them to slip into my consciousness (err, if you know what I mean? ) as an alternative to my tried-and-tested default brand.

I know what you mean - I was the opposite though: NO FENDER!

then I found one I liked!!

I was looking for a 5 string jazz deluxe an then I spotted the 'Berg. I used to have a 4 string years ago but I need 5 these days. So I took a punt and bought one.

Didn't even need setting up, even when I went from 45 to 35 gauge strings. The humbucker has a coil split too, so full jazz and great 'ray sounds too.

Have a day out to Bass Direct - they have a few in stock.
