absolutlely definitely if dosh is no object go for the trb5p

i currently have a 1004 and its very well made but is still no comparison to the early 90s trb6p i once had

the built quality on the early japanese trb's is quite staggering and the tone is something else

TRB5P for definite !

The P is for piezo, so it's got a piezo pickup built into the bridge.

My TRB6P is something like 25 years old this year, and is still an amazing bass to play, it has been well looked after though, but it's probably the best 6 that I've played.

Could be wrong about this but I think the 1005 is a 35 inch scale.

It is, the second generation TRB6P's were too, the early ones like mine are 34".

Play around with preamp, you'll read that lots of people want to change it for something more versatile, but there's no need, play around with cutting and boosting frequencies at the same time, you'll find it's plenty versatile.

I will get it home tomorrow. I will play a little with the preamp. Great to hear thank you.

Morecambe promenade music currently have my old modified yamaha trb1005j for sale at a steal. They don't specify the mods on the site, but it certainly sounds great. very unique (rickenbacker - esque), I just couldn't get on with 5strings though. It has a Hipshot A style Bridge (Aluminium), glockenklang 3 band preamp and a bartolini ADBG buffer circuit.

So I got the TRB 5P today. It´s a beauty. I have only played through the computer with earphones yet, but tomorrow I have a gig and will testdrive it through a Marshall 400w amp on a pretty big stage. I´ll come back with pics of the bass, and to tell you how I liked it on the gig.

Best regards/Daniel

Thanks! They are quite expensive, but not concidering what they did cost new. I was lucky enough to have a Fender American Standard Jazz 2012 to trade otherwise I wouldn´t be able to afford this one either. I love Jazz basses but have always wanted a TRB. I also need a 5 string.
