I know that TRB 5P is the more expensive one but how does the much newer 1005j hold up against it? Is it worth still getting the 5P? ambient Posted January 7, 2014 Share Posted January 7, 2014 TRB5P for definite ! The P is for piezo, so it's got a piezo pickup built into the bridge. My TRB6P is something like 25 years old this year, and is still an amazing bass to play, it has been well looked after though, but it's probably the best 6 that I've played. They don't specify the mods on the site, but it certainly sounds great. very unique (rickenbacker - esque), I just couldn't get on with 5strings though. I have only played through the computer with earphones yet, but tomorrow I have a gig and will testdrive it through a Marshall 400w amp on a pretty big stage. I was lucky enough to have a Fender American Standard Jazz 2012 to trade otherwise I wouldn´t be able to afford this one either. I love Jazz basses but have always wanted a TRB.
