Today, I made a mahogany control plate and truss rod cover with the mahogany Andyjr1515 kindly sent me. I'll upload a photo of the control cover when its oiled, but I thought id share the truss rod shape i made to match the headstock shape. I felt it needed something a little better than the standard one they give you. Looks a lot better don't you think? :)

Thanks guys, I'm really chuffed with how they came out, never made one before. It will be getting oiled very soon.

It looks gorgeous. I'm sure it'll sound as good as it looks. Remember to put some sound files up once you've finished it.

Thanks, I will definitely do that. Currently decorating our office/studio so will do it as soon as my speakers are all rigged up. :)

I need a little help on some electronics.

I've wired up my switch for series/single/parallel switching using a standard DPDT on/on/on switch (picture attached of how i've wired it), since I've got an on/on/on slide switch that i intend to have sticking out the control cover, so I can switch sounds without removing the cover.

This is the switch I've got;

My issue is, this has 8 lugs and the current switch has 6, so not sure which ones I should ignore, so if anyone has a wiring diagram or can explain how this should be done then that would be great.

Thanks

Hi Dolando

Are you just wanting a two position arrangement but just happen to have a three position switch ?

If so, wire it up exactly the same just ignoring the top pair of lugs ( this will switch one end and middle) or are you trying for options with all three positions?

Its been a long time, but I've finally finished the last couple of bits.

I've installed the sliding switch in the control plate cover, giving me easy access to parallel/series/single switching.

I've also oiled the truss rod cover and it really finishes it off nicely.

Very nice indeed!

Great work with the truss rod cover. Its all in the details, and matching the shape with the headstock looks excellent!

(perhaps the selector switch could be slightly recessed, to prevent it accidentally being switched by your 501 jeans pocket? I'm being picky here, btw)

Fabulous bass though. Congratulations. Enjoy!

Yes you are! haha. Thanks though. :D

Yea, i've thought about it, I might put another washer on the inside to pull it back a little, but I'd need bigger screws for that which I don't have. For now it doesn't bother me. :)

No problem. I actually used some of the same eventually to do a control chamber cover on my yew/ mahogany home built. As you say, finishes it off nicely .
