Greggo
Do all Ibanez ATKs have the stingray like sound or is it higher end versions that nail it better? There seems to be a wide variety of models available on the used market.
Greggo
Just realised there is another thread open about the ATKs, I should have posted in that one..

Funky Dunky
Congrats on a nice acquisition OP. The ATK200 was on my shortlist, can't find anywhere selling one to go try it out sadly but saw some vids on YouTube and was most impressed with the tones. I'm not a fan of Ibanez basses per se, but the ATK is the one I would go for. Given that you got a 500 for that price, I would say you ought to be plenty chuffed! Roland Rock
If I were to idly GAS over a five string two pickup version, what model should I be looking for?
LeftyJ
The ATK405, the Prestige ATK1305 or the more recent ATK805 (the really posh model with the wooden pickguard) and 1205 which have both pickups placed closer to eachother. Contrary to earlier twin-pickup ATK's, it has the regular single-pickup ATK bridge, so the humbucker is further from the bridge (in the regular Stingray sweet spot). All other twin-pickup ATK's have the humbucker mounted closer to the bridge. Not sure if the current 1205 is available here though.
