I Heard the sad news that founder member Allen Lanier of Blue Oyster Cult passed away. I absolutely love them and was lucky enough to catch them on the last 3 tours. Allen played some sublime piano at times and was pretty much under-rated by most. The bass on this track is cool... unlike the video! RIP Allen.

That is sad news. I always thought Allen was the coolest member of the band, a band who I was pretty struck with as a youth. Probably best known for their early stuff, Allen's keys added a subtle jazzy quality to all that riffing I thought. Nice choice of tune by the OP (the vids a bit naff!) - one of their good tunes from the 80s. RIP

I have to say the last couple of times I saw them (which is still a good few years back) he did look rather feeble and a little out of it. I recall we spotted him wandering around outside with his towel still round his neck just after a gig, think he probably went through a wrong door and out onto the street by accident, didn't look quite 'with it'. Looks like it was probably the chain smoking that got to him in the end though, RIP.

Just saw this on the NME site - very sad.

To me, their first 3 albums remain awesome. Heard them when I was about 15, and I still love them now. In fact, I was grooving with 'Secret Treaties' the other day.

'Tyranny And Mutation' is never far from my 'top albums' list - so inventive.

Still quite like some of the later stuff, always mean to re-purchase on MP3. So many classic tracks.

RIP to a genuine legend. :(
