I've just seen them over the last couple of days. I like the looks of a couple of the designs on the website (http://www.rmiuk.biz/) and pricing doesnt seem too bad (depends on what you actually get though ;) ) I get the feeling they are using eastern manufacturing whilst designing and finishing in the UK. There are some vids on YouTube

Have you spoken to Mark as he may have other basses for sale that aren't on ebay.

Give him a call. He's a really nice and helpful guy who is passionate about music and the needs of his customers.

Naah... there's something not right about all this. The auction for that bass had two offers - they were obviously unbeknownst to me - but in a matter of hours the seller accepted an offer not that much higher than mine, yet well below his asking price and MEGA well below the expected retail price quoted on the site.

Anyone on Basschat win this?

If you have a problem why don't you phone the seller?

The sellers phone number is in the contact details that are on the listing.

It's ok. I guess I'm just miffed about losing out on it. Sour grapes and all that.

Over it. Nice bass, though.

Yeah, i realise how you felt.

He's a decent bloke and if you are ever interested in one of his basses then give him a ring.

 • 6 months later...

I bought the ex-Frankfurt Musikmesse Spectra 4 string from eBay. For the money I paid I would have been happy if it had been mediocre, but thankfully it isn't. The price of the Delano pickups and and active EQ alone would have cost me more to buy than the bass itself. the fit and finish is as good as any far eastern made bass that you would typically invest £500-£800 in. It is the product of a big Korean factory who make a number of very high profile brands. The design authority however is entirely RMI's.

I collected it in person from Mark Ramsay, and I have to say he really is the genuine article. He is passionate about building a small, boutique bass brand, and working very hard at it. He was a bit rueful at the price I paid (he didn't mind, thats life on eBay anyway), but he spent time setting it up and generally just getting carried away with his bass projects. seems he is attracting some serious players to his product. I recommend this guy highly and wish him enormous success. In a world of 'also rans' he seems to be genuinely trying to produce something different, exciting and yet not too expensive.

I'd say you've got a great bass there for the money. I have one of Mark's cheaper Boomslang Jive Bass JV4SFL basses. It's a green fretless that was on show at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in 2013. It's a fantastic bass for the money.

I've met Mark and as you say he is passionate about music, basses and what he sells. I couldn't recommend him or his basses highly enough.
