Can I run passive monitors on this setup?

Morning all,

With this mixer:

and this power amp:

...will I be able to run two passive monitors in addition to the two PA speakers? For example if I use the power amp speakon outputs for the PA speakers, and jack outputs for the monitors (or vice versa)?

Many thanks!

But even if you could, you would have no control over what was going through the monitors ... it would just be whatever was going through the PA.

If that isn't a problem, then check whether your main PA speakers have 1/4" OUT sockets to allow daisy-chaining, and whether they're 8 Ohm.

If that's a 'Yes' in each case, then just daisy-chain from each of the PA speakers into the two monitors.

That will have your amp working at 4 Ohms on each channel and chucking out (allegedly) 250W per channel. If all you use the PA for is the vocals, then that should be plenty.

As Warwickhunt said you could but it's not ideal. You could run the 2 pa cabs in parallel from one side of the amp and the monitors in parallel from the other providing you didn't go below 4ohms.
You'd have to take a mono out from the desk to one side of the amp and an Aux feed from the desk to the other side of the Amp.

I agree with what I 'think' HJ is alluding to here and that is that I'd be sceptical that the amp even put out that kind of power, measurements to get that rating can be interpreted as easily as statistics. ;)

Just an update on this: we ran both monitors active in the end off the mono aux mixer feed, and it worked fine - as suggested above it meant the sax/harp/piano/vocals could be mixed independently for the monitor feed. Thanks again for the advice!
