I have a Peavy 'Solo' mains/battery guitar amp (Not for putting my D/B through I might add!!!)---max.15W output---in need of a new quality 8inch 4ohm speaker. Does anyone know where I can obtain one?

Question: Not knowing a thing about speakers what wattage of speaker can I go up to?
Question: Do the terms: 'Driver' / 'Sub-Woofer' come into this? Do I avoid these speakers? Are those speakers for cars? Hi-Fi?

If you want something that'll definitely fit and work then Peavey UK have a very good spares department.

Well it really depends on how the '15W' has been measured, but anything above 30W is likely to be a waste of money.

Well 'driver' is just another word for a speaker.
Subwoofer is a bit of a variable description as there's more to a subwoofer than just a speaker, it can also involve electronics and cabinet design - I'd avoid them for this particular application.

have you taken the old speaker out yet? it should have either 8ohm or 4 ohm marked on it somewhere, it should be a blue marvel speaker (standard fitment)

for a replacement the celestian eight 15 is a good option if you need 8ohms or jensen make one called the mod 8-20 which is available in either 4 or 8 ohms. eminence might make one too, what you should be loioking for is a speaker that is marketed by the maker as a guitar speaker, beytween 20 and 30w rating should be fine.
