I have a Peavey Grind down to A and it's great! I have a .152 gauge bottom string on it so that it has a more natural feeling to it, but you probably won't need it that big if you're not tuning down permanently... I know another guy who has his low A string at .135 gauge and he's happy with it!

I have put them on every 5 string I have owned for the past 15 years (I am not going to count). It works fine and dandy, there are no tension issues going up and down and you get to play lower notes. What's not to love?

I only wish I could find one for my Status.
