New Bass Ideas

If I was looking for a 'retirement' bass I'd want one whose aesthetics weren't likely to fall too drastically out of fashion and would fit in with whatever musical directions I took.

As such, I'd look for a really nice playing/sounding example of quite a 'standard' instrument, probably starting with the Yamaha BB2024.

Then unless it turns out to be wrong for you I'd suggest this T-Bass.

I toured with a band whos bass player had one of these. It was awesome! I borrowed it to record on and the tone was killer (pun intended) http://www.zeal-guitars.de/EN/?page_id=580 check it out. BRX might be into it too.

Johnson will know what I think of that shape...

I do like the finishes of some of the instruments, although I must admit I was a little disappointed to find that the "Concrete" guitar was the coating only and not actually a solid concrete body.

I still say you secretly love them. It's like the girl in school you say you can't stand because you secretly fancy her and just don't wanna admit to your mates ;)

I'm afarid you're wrong the closest I'll ever get to owning a T-shaped instrument is my Reverend Rumblefish.

What's wrong with a Tele?

Nothing other than I find them boring looking. It seems to me that the musicians who use them revel in the description "workmanlike". I prefer my pop/rock stars to be rather more fabulous.

I reckon go for a custom. Loads of great builders out there, you'll get something unique built just for you, can chose pickups, hardware, wood, colour, etc..

Think this guy is awesome, builds some pretty cool stuff, in the states though.. http://www.hguitars.com ...maybe too coffee table for you though!
