Fretless Warwick Rockbasses for lefties

Thomann are currently selling their left-handed Rockbass models for ridiculously low prices - in the region of £130 - £150. Were I one of those absurd and possibly evil left-handed people I'd be all over that like a sinister rash.

Heads up, freaks!

;)

EDIT: sharpened up the title after reading the rest of the thread.

I've got two of them already, so don't need any more. But they're good for their price.

Are they 2010 models? I remember somebody telling me that Warwick had to reject practically the whole shipment of Rockbasses (from China) becasue they simply weren't up to the required minimum standard of quality.

it's the old stock and yes, all fretless. I bought mine over a year ago from elsewhere. £179. Great player but so basic looking. I did a paint mod on mine, loks like something from Bootsy's dark cupboard but hey, for that price I feel I have a bass that is reasonable good sound ( great fretless sound, even if the pups lack a bit of volume) and visually fits my personality. :gas:

If you don't have a fretless, aren't arsed to be seen with a bit of a flat slab for a body, it's well worth grabbing one of these to practice with or pick up for a song in your set..

Should be all right. I've got a 4 in natural and a 5 in dark blue, so was missing a black one B)

Ordered yesterday late afternoon, shipped this morning via DHL.

Ahhh, Robin, someone please save me (or lock me up without internet access or a credit card)! Thomann have also confirmed they DO have a left-handed version of the other baby I'm lusting after:

Bank account doesn't allow that though... yet. :gas:

I guess that's fair enough, but I'm still wondering how Warwick are able to sell L/H models for exactly the same price as R/H ones. Well done to them, in any case.

Because despite what the powers that be tell you there really is no cost difference to make a lefty, the CNC routers can be told to do a lefty in seconds (you just mirror the existing CAD design.) The real reason behind lefties being less common and more money is supply and demand, not as many left handers = not as many basses made = you pay a premium.

I get that, hence my question in the first place: since Warwick's lefty basses are usually in stock and ready to be shipped immediately from most retailers, that must mean the company manufactures enough of them regardless of the actual demand from the likes of you and me. There must be some redundancy built in the system, the cost of which appears to be borne by Warwick and not by us.
On the other hand, I'm sure their lefty stock's ready availability and equal price has given them a big share of the left-handed market, and made the effort worthwhile.
