Musicman Sabre

These Sabres are getting harder to find, and there weren't a whole lot of them to start with!
This is a '79 maple neck all original apart from paint removed from body by previous owner with a matt finish over it. It's been done very well and actually looks pretty good, fortunately the wood underneath looks great. All electronics, pickups, bridge, everything else is totally original, the bright switch hasnt even been rewired to active on/off like most. It plays absolutely superb with a quite low action, and sounds fantastic, the extra pickup gives much more tonal variation than the stingray.
I am regretfully moving it on as I have a Status KingBass on order that I gotta pay for, and times is tight!
It comes with a Hiscox Liteflite case as in photo.
I am looking for £1400, no trades.
I'm based right near South Mimms services for collection, or we can negotiate delivery.

Thanks for looking!

Lovely bass - isn't often a Sabre comes up for sale, particularly one that hasn't seen much better days!

Have a bump from me, and best of luck with the sale (If I had the money.....)

What was the original colour of it, by the way? Any idea?

Cheers
James

Hi James, I was told it was rootbeer which I like, quite a rare colour, but I havent seen any bits left on the bass to confirm,

:) Thanks for that - had seen that one but looking around for a pre-EB one (phase switch & bright switch as opposed to the 5-way selector).

Surprised that the one on fleabay went for that price, though - would have been a good buy for someone.

This is definitely my old bass, and she's a cracker - wasn't me who stripped it though, it was an owner or so before that.

From the traces of paint in the cavities I think it was chocolate brown (is that same as root beer?), 2-piece alder body.
