As the title ...........

I own a TRB 5pII and a TRB 6 II and love them both. They both sound very different .

Can anyone please tell me if there is much difference in tone between the TRB6 , TRB6p , TRB6 II & TRB6pII ?

Has anyone played / owned any of the above ??

I have been watching the " dirty Loops" the bass player uses a TRB6p.
I have also been watching " Magazine gap" tim the bass layer uses a TRB 6 pII.

I have some real bad gas for a TRB 6p now !
I don't think that i can hold it in for much longer :)

Do they still make the TRB6ps?

I know a new line of TRBs are coming out before too long and have been designed in collab. with Mark from Bass direct

I'd personally make sure i had one with Piezos and i'd be happy! :)

All the sound clips of the TRB6ps i've heard have been awesome, but whats the actual difference?

No, they don't make the Trb6p's anymore.
You can only get them second hand.

I had no idea that there were new TRB's on the way ! Very exciting !

Do you have any details / specs of the instruments ?

Are they all the same scale length? Have the same pickups? If either of those two aspects are different they will definitely cause differences in tone between the instruments.

None, but they will retail through BassDirect for about £3000 (I'm going to pry Mark for specs though!)

I believe the older ones were 34" and now they are 35" and also the much older TRB6s had single coils, and the the TRB6p ones were "fat" single coil designs which progressed into full on soapbars (IIRC)

My main 6-string is a Yamaha TRB6II (1998) and I gotta say, it's very well built!
It's age has only made it better. It's massive and the neck is hunk a chunk but that's what I like about it. However, it played even easier than my Ibanez BTB556, which has a really flat neck.
Never tried a TRB6IIp though...Hmmm...

I have the 5 string version of this bass in the same finish and it is awesome!
I'd love to check out the 6 string at some point. It would probably weigh about the same as a small planet though :)

There's a great midrange tone to these basses that seems quite unique to TRBs.
