Aguilar cracking.

Im experiencing some crackling from my AG500 SC, its going through a Mark Bass STD104. The problem started when I worked on a ferry, when returning from a family matter back onto the boat, I found that the head had been stored upright for 10 days. I wasn't best amused when I saw this and Im paranoid that that may be the reason for the intermittent crackling and drop in signal. I had heard somewhere that it may be something to do with the capacitors when stored in any way but flat? Am I being silly?

Any thoughts any one? Im worried as I don't have the money to replace it and I now rely on it, being a working musician now.

A worried Dan.

The vertical storage shouldn't have any impact whatsoever, I'd have thought it'd be a completely different reason. How old is the amp?

I noted that you are in N Sields (I'm less than 10 miles away), I can put you onto a couple of very good local technicians who could give it a service (which is the least that I'd recommend if you are relying on this whilst on cruise/ferries). Better to be safe than sorry!

I've phoned up an electronic engineer that builds amps as a hobby who said it's definitely not from storing on it's side or even upside down. More than likely another problem as mentioned above or mechanical failure inside that amp due to something, like a capacitor working loose.

Hey eveyone!

Sorry I havent looked on here for a while. I got the problem sorted, I emailed Aguilar and got a fairly swift response form them. It turned out to be my speakon cable, got a new one from OBBM (insanely highly recommended!) and the volume pot was filthy. Some electrical cleaning fluid sorted that out.

I thought it might have been something about the capacitors, I had been scared about this earlier in the year, I suppose its just me being a gullible tit!

Hats off to Aguilar for there customer service, and everyone who threw in suggestions.

Dan
P.S In hindsight, I feel rather thick.
