He left positive feedback for the buyer on 19th July... tends to indicate that the guy didn't back out. :)

Of course, he could have 2 identical cabinets... and values the second somewhat above the price of the first :)

It stinks.
Starting bid higher than previous sale price. With him leaving positive feedback for the buyer, I know what I personally believe. Sold to shill bidder.
If I'm reading the bidding history correctly, then the winning bidder put their bid in one second before the end of the auction. That really doesn't sound like the action of a shiller. Or am I missing something?

A shiller can use this technique to push up your bid towards your maximum bid. Doing this at the last minute can eek a few extra quid for your buddy.
Surely though if you shill and get caught out you're better canceling via mutual agreement rather than keeping up the pretense and paying Ebay fees on the selling price.

Or am i missing something?
True, but we assume that these guys are smart, or haven't done this repeatedly in the past.

Strange huh?

But between the two auctions... this - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=145731

on 14th July 12.00pm. In the Amps and Cabs section and then edited 12.37.

The cab was sold for £226 the previous day.

Maybe our fellow forumite didn't know this? Fair enough.

Strange how he chips in just before the cab is relisted on Ebay to tip us all off that the a 'similar' cab is up for sale.

Perhaps he could get in touch with the 'top bloke' in Herts and 'top bloke' can explain these strange shenanigans to us lesser mortals.

I've bought a few items on Basschat, never had any problem whatsoever.

Also bought stuff on Ebay all good so far.

This is the first time I've ever seen what 'looks' like a 'shill' bid used to end an auction so that the item can be relisted the following day at an inflated/higher price.

And never have I seen a good forum like this one used so shabbily.

'IF' it is a case of shill bidding and the seller has done it before (especially with the same mate) then he may be aware that ebay monitor (automatically) cancelled transactions. Several retractions between the same buyer/seller generates ebay warnings and investigations, added to which I've seen sellers with feedback that is almost exclusively made up of transactions between multiple ID's... it inflates positive feedback (yes I know it is an expensive way of doing it but not everyone is savvy enough to realise that).

I'd be interested in hearing from the BC seller as it then informs our opinions on matters like this in the future. :)

I know Connor, having got extremely rat-arsed with him at the last Moffat bass bash.

I've sent him a link to this thread.

Hi guys no tricks here, can't believe everyone's jumping to the worst case scenario of a fraudulent auction. The answer is the simplest one! Ali had 2 Eden 410T cabs, I believe people do this to form a "Stack"? Could be wrong! Anyway he sold one, thought the price was a bit low so he thought he'd start the second one a bit higher! He initially was going to hold on to one but changed his mind!

Hope this clears this up!

Connor
