I've had a look on the bay and google and it all seems to be 0.6mm thick or unspecified, I've heard you need around 2mm to fill fret slots but can't seem to find any that thick, I don't suppose anyone knows where i could get hold of some?

0.6mm is the standard. Thicker veneer is called structural veneer. Try googling that or 1.5mm veneer, 2.0mm veneer etc.

EDIT:

Or stick some 0.6 together to get your width

Or Use it as a capping veneer rather than trying to fill the whole thing with it

Or wait until someone who knows what thier talking about puts a reply up :)

0.6mm should be fine for filling your fret slots! If your slots are much wider the frets won't stay in!!!!!! Laminating veneer (or structural veneer) will be far too thick unless you want to open your slots out yourself for a thicker line. I can give you some 0.6mm birch veneer which is what I usually use on dark boards for lined fretless originals and conversions.

OK, PM me with your details - your address and what it is you're defretting - and I'll sort some out. I can't let a fellow South Londoner down can I :)
