Much as I love my Yamaha SLB100, Kolstein Travel Bass and Ampeg Baby Bass I miss the grab and go concept of the SLB200 which I let go in a trade.

Whilst browsing I came accross [url="http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/strings/silentbasses/slb200ltd/?mode=model&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2Furl%3Fsa%3Dt%26amp%3Bamp%3Bsource%3Dweb%26amp%3Bamp%3Bcd%3D1%26amp%3Bamp%3Bved%3D0CCUQFjAA%26amp%3Bamp%3Burl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.yamaha.com%252Fyca%252Fpages%252Fdefault.aspx%252FSDB1456806%26amp%3Bamp%3Brct%3Dj%26amp%3Bamp%3Bq%3DSLB-200LTD%26amp%3Bamp%3Bei%3Dwyt_Te3XEMGahQfghMyVBw%26amp%3Bamp%3Busg%3DAFQjCNHd86PPZBhdk5HyR51VPo1Th8GCkw%26amp%3Bamp%3Bsig2%3DsQ-q7T5a1pYjmRqVKFtgpg&type=global"]this.

I'm not too keen on the gold hardware but the rest of it looks nice!

Hi Keith.
I've been following the thread on Talkbass. I agree about the gold hardware. The rest looks great!
I'm still on the lookout for a decent eub and have been hoping that these will make it to the shops in the uk before too long.

That said I have a feeling they will be really expensive :-(

Hi Geoff,

I see they've improved the 'lectrics and included a passive option.

I used a bridge transducer on mine so for me I'd be happier with the plain old version, never had a problem with the machines either.

I think I saw a price in U.S. for over $4k!

I contacted Yamaha to ask where I could try / buy a SLB200LTD

this was their reply

The SLB200LTD will be launched at Musikmesse in Frankfurt. At the moment we do not have a date as to when they will start arriving into the country however, the best thing to do for now would be to speak to your local electric strings dealer and register your interest with them. Your nearest electric strings dealer can be found at - http://yamaha-corporation.force.com/dealers/uk

I'm just curious to see if it is an improvement on the original soundwise.

The neck looks tasty!

I've never been too keen on Chris Minh Doky's sound, but then he'd probably laugh if he heard me play! :)

And another link

I spotted it at Musikmesse and discussed the supply/price situation for the UK. I will hopefully have realistic confirmation of this before too long.

I spoke with the European Product Manager on this model, who told me that the 'LTD' edition is to mark the 10th anniversary of the SLB.

I have to say that my impression was that some serious thought had gone in to the design with respect to the detail, such as the bridge.

Here are a few hasty snaps that I took of this rare beastie.

Hey EUB fans.

I've just pulled the trigger on another vintage plywood upright, so the house is a bit crowded.
I'm considering letting go of a bit of EUB history.

I've got the remains of one of the rarest and most sought after EUBs, 1968 Ormston-Burns, British made less than a dozen ever built. Sadly, bodywork altered beyond recognition by a previous owner, now further frankensteined by me before I knew what it was. Still, neck, scroll, pegs, fingerboard, bridge, pick-up all original, what's left of body is original wood (!) with replacement controls, lump of wood I added as an upper bout, and a home made spike. Sadly, no sign of original scratch plates or controls. It works, though in my opinion sounds rough. Especially with Innovation strings on, which don't drive the mag p/up very well at all. I use it as a silent practice bass. With some love it could easily be returned to a very serviceable vintage EUB.

Originals looked like this ... this one sold for several £1000s a couple years back.

So here's a feeler ... anyone interested in inheriting this collecors curio? What's it worth, I dunno .. if you're interested I'll try a price!
