Gibson Victory Artist

Recommended Posts

Looking at one of these on the bay.com. Condition wise, It is about as mint as you can get for a 1981 bass, complete with original case.
Been on my GAS list for a while (Along with RD Artists) :) :)

Does anyone have any idea what it is likely/ought to make?

Cheers

Can't really help you, mine was a wreck and had no case. If you are going for it, get some weight training in :D

Having said that, I have a list of all the ebay Victory auctions from Dec09 until Jun10 when I got mine if you're interested.

That's why I wasn't concerned about your threats to steal mine - you'll never outrun me :)

I wouldn't get too cocky - it's all about stamina, you'll only be able to sprint so far dragging that thing.

And it will look great on my wall. Until the weight pulls the wall down. :)

I shouldn't think this will go too much higher. Victorys haven't quite got the vintage appeal of other Gibsons (yet - they are getting there slowly) and they get listed fairly often. This might go higher due to nice condition/case/colour - candy apple reds don't seem to be the most common colour - but i'd be inclined to wait for the next one if it goes too far.

Hmmm. I think you're right. + I've been outbid now anyway... :)
Probably a good job really, shipping and tax would have been fairly hefty. :)

If anyone sees a bargain give me a shout.
Cheers.

 :D :P

In the end it made $2700 / £1670!!! Ouch!

That's the most i've seen one go for. My Artist was $350 - no case - about 4 years back. I knew that was cheap then though, so I jumped on it. My Custom was $700 with case - and I considered that i'd overpaid at the time - also about 4 years ago.
