Ziphoblat
Withdrawn. [s]I'm looking to trade my Fender Precision bass. It's just not getting played enough since I bought my Jazz bass - I love the sound, but I don't have the biggest hands ever, so the Jazz is just more comfortable for me. The bass is a '97 Standard USA Fender Precision model in lake placid blue with a maple board. Comes with the original moulded Fender hardcase. It's in pretty damn good condition considering the age. There are two small dings on the entire instrument unfortunately, which were there when I bought the bass a few years ago from the previous owner. One is on the upper side of the body, but doesn't break through the finish, and the other is on the underside of the neck around the lower frets. It's not visible unless you look at the bass from a peculiar angle, and you can't feel it or tell it's there while playing the guitar. I've attempted to photograph both, but it wasn't easy. I'm not in any sort of dire financial need, and I only have two basses right now, so a trade would be preferable if possible. Failing that, I'll consider selling it for a reasonable amount. I'm looking for an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray bass. The more recent the the better. I'm only interested in 4 strings and a 3EQ model. Rosewood fingerboard is a big bonus, and I'd rather it was a H than a HH. Must be in good condition, I may be able to deal with one or two minor dings, but no nasty paint chips please. I'd prefer a straight swap, but for an exceptionally nice specimen I might be able to part with some cash as an additional incentive. I'm based in Leeds, and it could be possible for me to travel or meet mid-way within reason. Would prefer offers from people in the UK. Feel free to ask any questions if I've missed any information out too. A quick edit; it's been brought to my attention that the camera flash on the photo of the back of the body looks like it could be a scratch. Just thought I'd reassure that this isn't a scratch, it's just camera flash. The bass has a tough finish - I can't even see any buckle rash on it. This one's back up now. Looking for a Musicman Stingray, check the rest of this post for details. Cheers[/s] Edited April 18, 2011 by Ziphoblat
gary mac
Welcome and good luck with the sale. I'm not in the market for another P bass at the mo, but that is very tempting, well it would be if I had the dosh. all the best, Gary

Ziphoblat
This one's back up now. I'm now specifically after a Musicman Stingray, more details in the original post, or possibly cash. Here are some more photos of the bass in a higher quality (good camera, rubbish photographer). Quatschmacher
Don't know if you've already checked this out, so forgive me if you have: Stingrays do have quite a big neck too (I find them even more uncomfortable than P bass necks). However Ernie Ball does a neck option called the SLO Special. It's a Stingray on which the neck has the narrower profile of the Sterling (38mm at the nut as opposed to 41.3mm). It's much more comfortable to play. However they have only been around for just over a year so there aren't many used examples floating around (been hoping to score one myself). Also, there are P basses around with more comfortable necks. Fender Japan do a 70s reissue with a 40mm neck, which is slimmer than the standard 41.3mm. The Lakland Duck Dunn is a P bass with a Jazz neck, as is the Sadowsky Hybrid P/J. Might be worth checking those out too if the only thing stopping you playing Ps is the neck. Have a free bump. Shonks
you might wanna look at my Sterling HH but it wouldn't be a str8 swap I'm afraid my post

It felt a lot more comfortable to me than the P-bass neck, so I'm not sure if it's just the size of P-basses that puts me off. I've played some PJ's too, and it definitely appeals to me - although right now I'm mainly after a Stingray, as I already have a Jazz. Not too keen on black finishes either personally.

Ziphoblat
For a limited time I'll accept £625 for this one. It's on evilbay at the moment for a little more, but I'll take £625 if done through basschat.
