Looking to get a beater Pbass and torn between these three. Anyone owned both the player and classic vibe, what are your experiences? 1 and 2 are almost the same price and have no mods, and because it's second hand, I like that it has more mileage and most prolly been setup. Or get the latest player II coz I'm a sucker for maple and blue combination.

1. Squier Precision Fiesta Red Classic Vibe 60s - 2nd hand

2. Fender Player in Tidepool - 2nd hand

3. Fender Player II in Aquatone - bnew

Don't discount the Squire 40th anniversary precision if you can find one. IMHO definitely has sound, feel anc build quality in Fender territory - just built in Asia.

I have a soft spot for the top one as I got into bass when a friend lent me an identical one... probably even the year.

A photo from rehearsal this evening consisting of my Fender American Vintage 2 precision bass and 2008 Squier Classic Vibe Precision. Both fantastic basses and to be honest are closer to each other in feel, vibe and sound. The Av 2 has more bottom end whereas the classic vibe has a lovely vintage mid range to it but with a blindfold I’d be hard pushed to figure out which I was playing.

I feel similarly about my AVII  and Squire 40th. Except I could tell blindfolded due to the wonderful satin finish of the Squier.

For sure, nitro aside it’s unbelievable how close the neck profiles are. Yeah there is a 2mm nut difference which makes the cv feel slinkier to play, but that aside it punches well above its weight.
