artisan Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 hi chaps,just got a new Corvette std' fretless active which still has the roundwound's that came with it.these seem to be wearing the fretboard away already so i was wondering what you fellow fretless players would recommend. i love the sound of the roundwounds so thought about trying some groundwounds - will flatwounds make it sound dead (i don't like 'em on a fretted bass)- heylp Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dread Bass Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 I went through the same thing. The roundwounds mark the fingerboard a bit but nothing else. I like the sound of round wounds so i tried to comprimise with ground wounds and i was never happy. I now use roundwound on both my fretless basses both ahave rosewood boards and i dont think it has done anything but mark the board no damage as such if you get what i mean.
