1. I've always pretty much gone for that sort of EQ setting, but I always forget I'm right next my rig and it sounds aweful but once you get best part of 10 feet away you start to hear it properly for now I'm enjoying the OTB's and compact flat EQ tone, maybe just a touch of bass cut to add clearity.
2. I guess I'll just keep bumping it for now, cheers for the input. Btw I added a link in sig and got rid of the letters. Haha.
3. I've got one, with a series/parrallel switch, not installed yet as it's for a jazz project. They are very well built and look easy to install. I can't wait to hear it though with the fender custom shop 60s pickups I have.
4. Some funny replies. I've tried flats before, I did like the overall sound but found them slightly stick and not as fast as rounds, I also missed the growls from sliding, which I do too much. I've since strung my spare bass with a set played it a bit, tuned it a half step higher played and strathed an taken them off and just trying to let them get the air. Hopefully we will see how much it works. I don't tend to notice that high zing new news have when playing with the band as the guitars generally cancel it out, but it's annoying as he'll when practicing. Are super slinks a girly gauge? I have doubts on how much bass anything lighter would naturally have.
5. I've never really traded guitars or basses, but since starting my trade thread for the bass in my sig I'm finding it frustrating. Probably because it's note a typical bass, I dunno. I think I'm being very open to trade offers, but there are some specific basses I would like. There's enough info, 2 links for further reading. Ton of pics. Am I doing something wrong? Why haven't I got any feedback especially with the topic views so high? I would link but I'm using my phone. Stephen.
6. Maybe a weekend 4 weeks from now. Weekend as a lot of people like me won't have college or work anyway and 4 weeks as it's enough time to garner extra interest and if you do need to book it off as a holiday day then usually your employer requires an advance notice of 4 weeks.
7. Please offer me something, the worst I'll say is no.
8. If I had the spare cash I'd go ahead and book. I think if someone gets some names down and then we can see how many are definatly interested.
9. I love the black mages, and Uematsu. Sones great though, but I still prefer the hard hitting original. The intro is awesome.
10. Or you trade my Power jazz for the musicman? Lol it's active so has a battery compartment routed and the control cavaity is quite big.
11. Great communication and trut worthy dude. Was a pleasure to do business with you. Hopefully I supply you with other stuff in the future . Ste!
12. Indeed why would you eat a quorn burger if there is steak in the fridge? And yes the PPC4x12 is a back breaker!! The ad140 head wieghs about 22kg my bass rig wieghs less than that!!! If you did get it though you should a/b it with the ad200 to see how similar they actually are, especially how the terror is supposed to have the same pre-amp section.
13. I have one it's useful for those without a headphone socket on the amp head. Plus if you did like it's tone I've used it by pluging it into the CD input of an amp, pointless but it can be done . Mine doesn't hiss or break up, but across the two very different basses I have it does sound similar with both.
14. These basses make me lol. Anyone with a decent sound clip of any of these less than 3 string basses. If I ever run out of gas I'd guess these would be my last option.
15. I can't link it as I'm on my phone but I searched 'fender sub-lime bass' on YouTube and I watched some muzikshmidt clip. The guy is using a 2 string bass. I mean not like 2 strings missing. But the neck is 2 string width and the headstock only has 2 tuning pegs. I didn't get a look see at the pickup or bridge but the rest seemed full size. Anyone else seen this?
16. If wieght wasn't an issue and looks were I probably would have gone for the orange 1x15 as the orange tolex ghee me a small crisis. But after lugging around my guitar rig and being bent over at work hurts my back.
17. Simply put: you have 2 outputs, one jack and one speakon. you can connect 2 8 ohm cab, one in easy output for your 4 ohm minium and maxium wattage. Or one 8 ohm cab to either output for around half the wattage. Or one 4 ohm cab for the maxium wattage. If you want the maxium output with the compact you will need a another 8 ohm cab, connected via the speakon output. I presume you have a jack to speakon cable to connect your compact? If the cab you buy only has jack inputs then you will need the same kind of cable. The type of output socket shouldn't effect anything. If your still stuck check the manual as some amps can be odd. If you don't have it Warwick should have it on their site as a adobe PDF file download. A lot of amps do this, I know my old svt-3 pro had one speakon output an 2 jack socket output, with a minium load of 4 ohm. So I could either use one jack socket and the only speakon or both jack outputs.
18. I believe the only way you'll achieve a similar loudness with those smart power ones is 2 of those 2x10s but that's expensive. The only orange bass cab I'd feel comfortable with is the OBC 115, but it won't be as loud or light as the compact. But lol at the bass off idea.
19. I dunno why but I prefer the sound of my strings when they've been on for about a month and have been played for over 2 hours a day, literally, right now my jaguar has great sounding strings in my opinion. They are super slinks and compared to when they were new they are thick and full of bass and low mids, this is great as I play with a pick in my band and I hate how brittle new strings sound, even when played with fingers. So is there a way of killing them quick? I've got a spare set of regulars to try some ideas on, even if its as simple as opening the crisp packet they insist on putting them in. Also anyone else like this, I know some people who have the same strings one there guitars/bass for years, im the same my epiphone dot has had the same strings on for over a year and I like it, however some people are anal and change them every 2 weeks!
20. Looks awesome. BTW Alex im in love with my compact and still luagh when people expect it to wiegh 30KG not 14kg. Still im going for the midget as my next purchase for the same 3 way rig.
21. I went from that combo too to a barefaced compact. I started with a SVT 3 pro loved the sound and features but not enough power for the compact so I sold that and got the Orange terror bass, much more power and a lot more bass response. I would suggest that but there are loads of other options, the harkte LH500 is a nice transparant valve pre-amped head but it will only output about 250 watt with the 8ohm compact so you could go for the LH1000 but I haven't seen a used one of those, and I don't know how much it would cost new.
22.
You could, it won't damage the amp or cab, but it's the same as turning down the volume, so there's no point really (unless you're scared you're going to blow your cab due to volume addiction).
not likely with the compact but thanks I'll give it a go, cause if he does get the 1000 watt beast and finds it's too loud he can always do this.
23. Sell cab buy a good 4 ohm one? Or re wire your current cab which wouldn't take to LNG there are probably some reside kit or an easy to do guide some where. I have an old guitr cab which 4ohm at 150w either side and 300 at 8 ohm with a flick of a switch
24. Compact Bigger louder sound and lighter cab, for less money than Oranges 2x12. And if you buy used cheaper than Oranges 2x10. But if you buy it new there's the monthes wait aswell, but you don't have to pay till it's ready.
