1. Thanks for all of the recommendations folks. After much deliberation, I went with this beauty: Just plugged it in, but the Xotic seems to fit the bill exactly so far!

 3. Thanks for sharing Sibob, great resource you have there! The Beta and Xotic both sound great to myears, but I think I'm gonna go with the Knightfall as I like the idea of having a transparent tone that I can dial darkness into.
 4. I can't recommend the Aguilar Tone Hammer enough- great on both passive jazz and modern sounding basses. The AGS option can also do tube simulation a la SansAmp BDDI, but with a lot more versatility IMO. Top notch support from the guys at Aguilar also!
 5. Cheers all, and for the detailed answer Ratman, that really helps a lot! I'm now edging more towards the COG pedals, and just received a lot of good info from Tom himself. I prefer the smaller footprint of the Darklighter & original Knightfall, but which one to go fo?! I'd somehow missed the Xotic BB Preamp in my search, that also looks great with a lot of tonal options. Hmm...decisions decisions!
 6. Cheers for the info. I don't have any particular tracks in mind for the tone that I'm after, but basically a warm tube overdrive/grind that isn't too subtle so as to get lost in the mix. Nothing too modern/fizzy or obnoxious! Can the Knightfall dial in this kind of sound? Thanks!
 7. Hi folks, I'm currently on the hunt for an overdrive pedal to add some tube grind for certain tracks, and have narrowed the search down to these 4:

SolidGoldFX Beta: Probably my favourite so far from what I've heard/read. My only hesitation is that the baked-in bass boost might be too muddy when used with my Genz Benz Streamliner head.
COG Darklighter: COG have a great following on BC, although the Knightfall might be more saturation than I need. I like the description of the Darklighter, but there are no bass clips available to hear it in action.
Darklgass VMT: Gets a lot of love but may be too pricey for all that I'll be using it.
Aguilar Agro: Love Aguilar gear, but some users comment on the loss of low end. Can this get a warm tube overdrive tone?
Thanks for any thoughts/experiences you can share!

 10. Ooft, sorry to hear about your BF damage MR Foxen, hope it get's resolved! Thanks for all of the tips guys, will give these a try!
 11. Hey all, Bought my cab at the start of the year & the original feet fell of after a few weeks of use (delicately placing it in the boot of a car!). I have been sent thicker screws and a few have fallen off again! Just wondering if anyone has any advice on a more permanent fix/upgrade to the cab feet? Thanks!
 12. Sewing it shut up to the tear sounds like a good idea. The only problem with fixing the zip is that it looks like I can't get in to the good end of the zipper to pry it out & try and get the sliders on both rows of teeth (hope that makes sense!)! It's pretty securely sealed in to the material of the outside & inside of the pocket! Hmmm..
 13. Hey all, The zip on the front pocket of my M80 has bust (out of warranty unfortunately), and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to repair this? So far I've tried shoe/bag repairers, upholsterers, saddlers and clothing alterers all with no luck (a combination of the case being to big to use in sewing machines, and not be able to turn the zip inside out for repair). I've attached a photo- you can see where the teeth have ripped away from their stitching, with both sliders now on one side. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the case is fine apart from this pocket flapping open! Thanks

 17.
I have one: I don't give much care to a pan pot - I use them like a switch anyway. What does it sound like? A more modern L-2000 would be the glib response. Lots of mids available on the EQ if you want it - and more pertinently it's controllable - that's the crucial difference for me over the L-2000, not the pan pot. Speaking of the EQ, the frequencies at which it operates complement the MFD pickups beautifully and there's virtually no hiss even if you turn the treble right up and it sounds way better to my ears than the treble boost option on the L-2000, less scratchy and finger squeaky. It's nice and simple to use. The pickups are perma-wired in series, but a little less hot than the L-2000. And the neck is lovely - slightly thinner than the Tribute L-2000 all round (but still not too thin - 41.2mm at the nut and a nice profile). Don't get me wrong, I've got no issues with the Tribute L-2000 neck, but this one I can fairly zip around on. Sometimes I like the tone of the L-2000 with it being basically a passive bass (the "active" thing being a simple signal boost), but sometimes this more hi-fi sounding one hits the spot. Found another vid:
Thanks for the great in depth info neepheid, your M2000 is a beaut! Do you find there to be a big enough difference between this and the L2k to justify owning both? If only the shops up here would stock them, I could find out for myself!
 18. Well I use & abuse an L2000 Tribute with customised the neck (the width/shape was modelled on a P-Bass), amazing & versatile workhorse bass that has kind of overtaken the vintage Fender as my main!
I had a tribute series 5 string and was glad to see the back of it. Felt cheap, sounded rough and was just not nice. I maybe just got a bad one but i wont buy any cheap eastern models again unless i play it first.
Interesting to hear. I actually bought a Tribby online first and returned it due to shoddy quality/earthing/finish, and then tried one in store and was blown away! Thanks for the link Dingus, good to hear an M2000 in action! Does anyone have any hands-on opinions of these? I love the idea of a pup pan, although wonder if I would miss the passive/active switch.
 19. Hey all, These G&L's are fairly new on the scene, and I was wondering if anyone has tried one? A G&L with volume pan sounds very interesting!
