So I got a first price for a metalic red finish on one of my BB1000MA's. Will try to get some "cheaper" ones but I think the plan is up... 🙂
I will change the hardware to gold to make it perfect OK, Corona will dealy the plan...but after the lockdown I'm ready to go!
Actually, I am more into the "new finish" option... I do have two superb 1000MA's and they do exactly what I want. Of course the BBPH would be wonderfull to have! 🙂
But 1000 bucks for another BB... man, I work hard for my basses...
Just was thinking about what I could do next .... 👩⚖️
Option 1 : buying the new BBPH 999,-
Option 2: a new finish for one of my BB1000MA'S 600;- ??? (metallic cherry red)
Option 3: buying a 434m and upgrading it 500,- plus ...300,- ?
Well I think it is not really difficult to recreate the sound without a BBPH bass. But the 1000MA has the same revearsed p-pickup ..which I like better than the normal way. A key reason for me to love the MA-BBs for so many years. I had several BB's but after Ii got used to the tone of the MA pickups the normal position is too boomy, to bassy for me.
And I was wandering if the PH BB was only a BB734 without the bridge pick up...but I heard PH saying that the neck was exactly the measures of his 1200s... Can anybody tell if the necks are different?
I will def. check it out when it arrives in the shop. I like the idea of a high quality BB with a nice finish- the normal BB series finishes are soooooo boring !!! :-(
Al, nice to meet you again ! 🙂 I think with red basses ...it has to be a special red, I would like some metallic... but the PH looks nice !!! 🙂
AND : The pick ups are lik the MA's... revearsed ! 🥰
Came home from work, saw your post and did some quick tunes on my new Zoom R8 with my BB1000MA 🙂 So nothing fancy, not arranged very well, just jamming !!
So here we go...BB1000MA Hook style (fingerstyle) 🙂 (well there is a good portion of Tony Butler in too!! )

Ok, BB's owned (and mostly gone)
BB3000, BB3000MA, 4xBB1000MA, 2xBB300, 3xBB414, 2xBB424, 2xBB1600, BB416, BB1024x
Most missed one: BB3000. Sold it when I was looking for a more modern EMG tone... well the 1600's also were ...outstanding
I am thinking of fitting normal sized PJs in one of my BB (of old) . Does anyone has / knows of pictures how this looks like together with the pu frames?
I wonder if I just could put something fitting in the space of the neck pu and how much wood work it would be for fitting the J-neck pu into the body...
Claus Fischer on his BBP35.... fantastic sound !!!
Claus is one of Germany's best known bass players. A long time Yamaha BB player. I think he even is the only German artist featured by Yamaha in their artist list for BB's..

I went to "Musicstore" (one of the biggest music shops in Germany) yesterday. Tested a Jazzbass that sounded soooo good !! I just could not let it go..it was a demo model so even cheaper than a new one. I was really happy with the sound.. at night time, I put on my stage stuff and checked what it looked like on me. I was so shocked how silly a Jazz Bass looks with me that after 1000 times of looking and overthinking...I drove to the shop today morning and brought it back 🤣 😥
I think I just found my kind of bass...
I don't know... but as long as it does not become a standard model I can life with it. I would have preferred the "new" Yamaha BBs with standard sized pick ups AND adapted chrome rings / frames to maintain the classic BB look. Everything else I keep calling the Sandberg way 😛 JJ/ PP/M/MM/ MJ/ MP....
Who really needs that and wants a Yamaha look???
