  2. Yesterday I had the first full rehearsal with the band and the 414. Plays lovely and cuts through wonderfull. Still can't belive how good BBs sound and what you get for very little money!
  3. Was thinkin on hydrodipping my BB1000ma - what did you pay for it? ....
  4. I just found the org. BB3000 passive electronics that I had changed against a Glockenklang active circuit. I wonder what bass would benefit most from it. 414 or 1000ma?
  5. Would be a more than cool thing to have such a pickguard shape to copy!
  6. It is what it looks like in woodhouse studios 🙂
  7. Good morning folks! Some old pic of the BB at work 🙂
  8. BB1000ma can be heard (with phones I suggest) on this snippet I just found: Yamaha BB1000ma rock song
  9. I had my old B2 in the chain for the drums 🙂
  10. The Hartke combos -especially the HD combos sound great played alone. I switched to two of the 12" combos with 500 watts each two years before but with the band I just could not cut through. Every time I played for myself I had a dream come true sound. But with the band.... It was also a dream to transport... went on a tour and played a normal analog rig one night... sold the Hartkes and thank god Mark Gooday saved me with a very potent analog bass rig. The recording is just a mobile ...the low frequencies can't be heared... but just to give an impression.
  11. BB414 / Harkte 25 watts combo. Mobile phone on the floor. Goes from PJ to P to J back to PJ BB414 PU sounds
  12. It started with a BB300 back in the 80s.... in love with BBs ever since..!
  13. I used to use Warwick red labels on everything because they are so cheap you can change strings every week. I love nothing better than fresh steel strings. I tend to say you can always dial highs out but if the strings are old, dead or done you can't dial anything in anymore. But I noticed a significant degradation on the red labels that occured with time. I had quiet a lot ..well how is that called in English..? The string core was broken on numerous new set of strings. It hit me once on a weekend in the studio when 5 out of 10 sets had dead e strings right out of the packing. I had to fight in the shop for getting them replaced and again 2 of 5 sets were like that. Even more bad was that suddenly I had problems to get my basses ..oh god...my english... in German it is called octave purity? What it means is that you can play an octave anywhere on the bass on any frets and it is "in tune" and sounds fine. I gave two of my basses to my tec guy and was afraid their necks had gone twisted but it turned out that with any other strings than the Warwicks tuning was just fine. Only with the red labels the problems occured. So I changed to D'addario Steels. Double the price of the Warwicks but I think they last a bit longer and they have more bottom.
  14. Sandberg is not to mention together with genious org. designs 😉
  15. I- for my happiness need this silly but BEAUTIFUL pick up surrounds to be happy !!!!!!!
  16. And doesn't it look a tiny little bit like an Jaydee? 🙂
  17. Man what can I say.... it looks absolutely stunning for me. The best finish of the BB series. What I did not expect is the difference in sound... it is so different to the 1000ma..! I don't know if it is only the pu position but it has so much more low end. But the biggest thing ist that is has way more output. I had to build totally new sounds on my effect pedal because all sounds that I am using with the 1000ma are now distorted... had to build new sounds on a very low basic sound to get a decent undistorted sound.
  18. And one more Yamaha BB pic of that area....
  19. This is from the live set of the gothband. I played some festivals plus a 2 weeks tour for them.
  20. This is from 2017 I think... did a record for a gothrock band. I remember bringing several basses to the session but the BB won Godex / BB1000ma
  21. So it is not a typical BB sound you'll hear. But the 1000ma does all tunings well.
  22. So this is no recent stuff at all but I remember tuning the BB1000ma down to record this album for a German mediaval rock/punk band that lost their bass player due to bad behavior (by them) back in 2009 🙂 🙂 Schelmish : Mosaik 2009
