1. Having sold my main gigging Warwick Thumb (cheers, Kev), I'm now taking the plunge and now making my backup Thumb bass available. It's a lovely 1990 model, MEC electronics/pups, gorgeous woods and, significantly, no mark/dent/dink/hole above the neck pup! In superb condition - as a backup bass it rarely gets played - and sounds, as you would expect - beautiful. The truss rod works perfectly, it has a low action, slim neck and feels a little lighter than my main Thumb bass was. Comes with a Warwick gig bag.

    Kev's Feedback

Another deal with Kev, another Warwick Thumb, another super bass and another happy bass conclusion. Superb.
  3.
Very interested in this but is that a big chunk taken out of the treble side of the 5 th feet or just natural staining and wear on the surface level of the maple from years of playing? If it's the latter that's good and actually desirable IMO
The noticeable wear at the fifth fret is simply down to years of playing - ale stained fingers The indentation can be felt when you slowly stroke your finger along the fretboard (5th fret G string) but not noticeable at all when playing. It’s 38 years of pure mojo.
  4.
Are there any neck, body cavity, pots or pup dates? The serial number seems to be S9xxxxxxx From experience these can often be 1980, 1981 or even 1982 manufactured basses You generally take the earliest date of manufacture (assembly) as being the latest date of any of the above components assuming them to be original to the bass Thanks and GLWS
Neck date 1979, pots and pups 1978. Therefore the dating indicates an assemble of 1979, although the serial number can - given Fender's notoriously shambolic numbering system - suggest 1980. The bass is 38 years old and looking remarkably fine and dandy for an old timer
  5.
I have to ask....how much does it weigh? 🙂
The weight, using the scientifically proven bathroom scales, bass and human body, human body, subtract, hold wet finger in the air and make a wish, is approximately, with a prevailing wind 4.1kg.
  6. No introduction required😄 But anyway, here is a 1979 Precision, which is totally original apart from the addition of a thumb rest! Amazing sounds - flatwounds - and enough tonal variation to suit the most discerning ears. Great condition for its age. There are a couple of paint chips - very slight - that I've tried to picture. The most obvious wear is to the fretboard where, typically the lacquer has worn off and the maple has attracted the usual dirt! The wear on the 5 th fret on the G string side is the most pronounced but doesn't impact on the playability whatsoever. Overall, an absolutely lovely bass, it's Fender, it's a Precision, its old and the roadworn look is the real mojo and not something added in a factory for loads of extra cash😄
  7. The proverbial 'feeler' as I never thought I'd be putting this up for grabs. Anyway, here is a1989, Warwick Thumb NT4. THis is one of the very early models, with a slimmer body than the later Thumbs. It's in amazing condition and, in particular, there is no 'hole' above the neck pup, which is the usual hassle with Thumb basses as you know. Overall in beautiful condition, frets superb, truss rod works perfectly, EMG's sounding as Thumbs and EMGs should, the neck is lovely, smooth and slim, brass top nut, and so on.

  9. This is the fantastic Mini Jumbo CW GT. Absolutely beautiful to look at and hear! It has never left the house and is in mint condition. As with all Simon and Patrick guitars, it is crafted in Canada by a skilled team of luthiers and it benefits from a no-compromise approach to production. This great looking versatile acoustic comes equipped with a terrific pickup up system so will record and perform live very well offering a versatile range of tone settings and plenty of control. The cutaway design provides enhanced access to some of the harder to reach parts of the fretboard and the solid Cedar top produces a wonderfully responsive warm and clear open tone that has plenty of charm and magic about it. The mini Jumbo size is a great jack of all trades guitar choice. It can do everything well as it has plenty of power and produces a wide and open tone that will fill a room. However, it can also be very delicate and works superbly with players who like to play any form of fingerstyle playing. These guitars are crafted with care in the Canadian Godin family workshop and guitar building facility. A privately owned business they produce these Simon and Patrick guitars with real pride and passion and as a result, players will find that this range boasts extremely good value for money. This Simon and Patrick Mini jumbo shape has been around for some time but maybe it has only been in the spotlight over the last few years. This is one very impressive all-around performance instrument and will keep on getting better the more it is played.

  13. Absolutely superb Gibson Nighthawk. It's in mint condition and has never been gigged. Recently had a full professional set-up and fitted with Elixir strings. Here is what Gibson have to say: The Nighthawk Standard 2010 is conceived from the ground up to provide superb resonance and sustain, the cornerstones of great tone. Its chambered poplar body is light, solid, and rings with overtones, while its Grade-AAA quilted maple top not only looks superb in your choice of three translucent nitrocellulose finishes inspired by three of the great Blues cities—Chicago Blue, St. Louis Sauce, or Memphis Mojo—it also adds bite and clarity to the overall sonic brew. A solid, glued-in maple neck and a scale length of 25 1/2" yield all the chime and twang of longer-scale guitars, while classic Gibson set-neck construction retains all the meat and muscle that you're looking for in any great double-'bucker axe. In that department, the Nighthawk Standard 2010 packs a pair of Gibson's popular open-coil humbuckers, a Burst Bucker 1 in the neck position and a slightly hotter Burst Bucker 2 in the bridge position, but increases their versatility dramatically with the addition of a single-coil blade pickup in the middle position. If that wasn’t enough, Push-pull master Volume and Tone controls pull sweet single-coil tones from the BB1 and BB2. With its five-way pickup selector and the single-coil blade pickup in the middle position, the Nighthawk Standard 2010 can tap any tone under the sun, and do it all with supreme resonance and sustain thanks to its through-body stringing, with strings ball-ends anchored in individual ferrules in the back of the guitar's body, and a precision PLEK-cut Corian nut. A versatile Nighthawk 2010 bridge provides six individual saddles, all independently adjustable for height and length, allowing perfect adjustment of both action and intonation so your guitar plays and feels as great as it looks and sounds. Quality vintage style tuners with pearloid buttons add a classic touch that complements the classic mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and holly headstock inlay, capping off an instrument rendered with subtle elegance. Each Nighthawk Standard 2010 comes protected in a hardshell case.

  15. Trades: Warwick Thumb, Dingwall, Roscoe, Wood & Tronics, Laurus or something equally luscious?
  16. A lovely Ovation Celebrity with stunning woods. It has been professionally set-up with Elixir strings 11-52, low action and sounds beautiful. Comes with a gig bag. Please note that the rear of the neck has been stripped and refinished. Previously, the neck lacquer felt 'sticky' and a slight scuff resulted in a lovely, smooth natural wax finish. There is a slight chip on the plastic cap that sits on the heel of the neck where it joins the guitar - nothing serious and obviously doesn't affect the playability. There are also a couple of very, very slight marks on the top of the headstock - difficult to see but they are there! Looking for £225 plus shipping. 18. Acquired this amazing delay pedal and have to admit to being smitten! It's an amazingly versatile pedal ranging from a subtle hint of delay to an all out Dr Who/Close Encounters type of weirdness. There is such a range of options available on this pedal. It's a limited edition with full paint job, very robust construction and it has a real quality look and sound to grace any pedalboard. If I were to indulge in separate pedals this would have pride of place on my board but I'll stick with my multi-effects. So, for a mint condition, only a few weeks old, pedal this is a gem. Asking £75 including postage to mainland UK. Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCcSGM0K_9A Zander: http://www.zandercircuitry.co.uk/product/tape-deck-delay-limited-edition/ DESCRIPTION The tape deck is the ultimate lo-fi tape echo emulation pedal. Inspired by the sounds of vintage tape echo units, the tape deck can create everything from dark washes of delay through to pitch-bent broken vinyl echoes. The controls: Mix – The wet/dry balance (does not go 100% wet) Feedback – The number of repeats (very interactive with the tone knob) Time – Delay time Tone – go from dark to extremely dark repeats Depth – Modulation depth Speed – Modulation speed Shape – Modulation shape (sine or square wave) Delay times range from almost nothing to approx 850ms, the longer the delay time, the noisier/lower the fidelity of the repeats and the quicker they begin to distort/mash into one another. The modulation only effects the wet signal and is separately foot switchable, the modulation section is capable of a wide range of chorus, vibrato and flanger like effects, whether you’re after a slight wobble or full on pitch shifting madness the tape deck can cover it. If you set the delay time very short and roll the mix knob back you can create some lo-fi faux chorus/vibrato effects. Expression controls: EXP 1 – Control the feedback/repeats, very useful in a live situation where you can alternate between single repeats and self-oscillation. EXP 2 – Manual “tape glitch”, this alters the delay time ever so slightly as you sweep through the range of the expression pedal, creating some subtle pitch-bending effects, similar to a tape on a tape echo speeding up and slowing down as it is pulled and stretched around a tape head.
