Lightweight or D class amp that sounds like a Valve amp
Yep. Anyone else go there with the intention to buy 1 thing (in my case a cab) and leave having bought 2? My wife came for the ride, so she was cool!
the last visit i went looking for a cab, i bought a bergantino AE210, although i now appreciate a pair would have been better, I thought the other half wouldn't be impressed, after a good chat, a few days laterI thought i'd go back for the second one, but it was too late, it was sold. In future perhaps i should have gone with my instinct, you live and learn...... -
My set up should be loud enough then, because if I am reading it right. The berg ae210 is an 8ohm can, so running at 375 watts. my cab is 4ohms, so would run at the full 600 watts. I presume you don't have any volume issues. Cheers Thebassman
no no volume issues for me. You're right the berg is an 8ohm cab, I had considering pairing it up with another berg cab, but as they are not making the AE anymore it was not to be. Who knows might check out the new range sometime? -
Thanks for all the info guys. Are we talking about the 600 or 900? And through what cabs? I have a 2x12 Mesa boogie 4 ohms.
In my own case I run a GB Streamliner 600 through a Bergantino AE210. For more info on the streamliners the manual can be downloaded from the Genz website. -
After fiddling with the Streamliner 900, Ive really grown to love it (again). My tip for any 'tube grind' (if you want it full on) with the Streamliner is: Gain full Volume at 9-10 ish Bass 10 Mids 3 (600 setting) Treble 1-2 Make sure you use a pick, and have your tone control up full/treble rolled up if active. Sound pretty close to the Orange Bass Terror, just a different flavour!
thats pretty similar to how i have my streamliner set, and i think it sounds great -

Thumbs up for a smooth transaction today when Beefyeggo bought my Cort bass. Hope he has fun with it, seemed a shame for me not be using it.

Great customer service - if you get it, let the retailer know
I had superb customer service from Nevada Music in Portsmouth very recently. It's a really nice, comfortable and large warehouse type retailer with a good online presence. I was treated extremely well by knowlegable and friendly staff. Andy Fisher is the main bass guy there and after talking to him about my requirements and spending a couple of hours trying guitars, I walked out with a superb instrument I hadn't even considered I might want, and at a very good price. He was really helpful and it was a very pleasurable experience buying it. The display instruments are very well cared for and felt like they had just come out the box. I called back a few days later to get the email address of the manager so I could register my satisfaction with their customer service and Andy Fisher in particular. The Director emailed me back saying thank you and how they rarely get positive feedback and often think customers don't appreciate their efforts at providing excellent customer service. You know how good it feels when someone says they love your band or your playing? So, if you get great customer service from somewhere, tell them about it! Cheers, Nigel
I'll second that, i popped in a few months ago en-route to some friends in Brighton. Andy was great, let me try several cab set ups, even suggesting something I hadn't considered. Although I didn't purchase anything that day, I would have no hesitation in recomending them, based on my experience. -
You could look at the Orange SP210?
I dont mean to be funny, but does the title not say 1x10? although for a 2x10 its is cute.
Yeah I'm really torn now! Don't whether to get something I could sell on or just have a stab at building my own!
back on track, what did you do in the end, did you get hold of a 1x10 or build your own?

Dave bought my LB30 yesterday, we chatted via pm a few times and arranged to meet halfway. Not only was he on time despite a huge traffic jam. He was a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgable about amps and the sound he is after I wish him all the very best with the little bastard and hope you have as much enjoyment out of it as i did Sam aka bozzie

My corvette is in the local shop for a set up, having it re-strung at the same time with a set of labella flats, loved them after trying them on a warwick at the bass gallery recently.
