Filling in at the last minute minute for a band that can't make it. Pop in and say hello if you are bimbling through the area.
Each 2 his own.... I LOVE the NV610 (as a 8x10-but EZ'er) is EZ to move
It doesn't work in proper English, Old Bean. EZ is pronouced Eee Zed.... -
Unless you're going to be making good money or have serious prospects with your band then I'd concentrate on your career - especially when good opportunites come up at your [relatively] young age.
You can always fit a band round a career, if not this one, then another one, but you can't fit a career round a band quite so easily.
Excellent advice. -
Oh and the VU meter is not designed to light up either.
-
Had one, sold it pretty quickly. It's much more a fuzz than a distortion and in no way would I describe it as an overdrive and despite having low and hi frequency filters loses a fair bit of bass frequencies.
There are better fuzzes, distortions and overdrives in my opinion
-
I have one - with J retro fitted. Mutts nutts it is.

Hey Chris
There's the Boss Micro BR and Tascam's MP3 version of the guitar trainer. Rumour has it Tascam will be making a bass specific version of this which should be excellent but the current Tascam Bass Trainer Mk II is pretty good also. You can use CDs or use a MP3 player as an input source.
I genuinely have no idea what you just said...

I think it was a compliment on Buzz's choice of men's outfitter. -
I also say "by" in the same way as you would when referring to planks of wood!
Lightbulbs and Japanese bikes spring to mind
I've got a Japanese bike - is there something I should know? Should I be changing it every three months? -
Skunk stripe? Not a on a rosewood finger board Fender.
Yes on a Mexican rosewood fingerboard Fender. I had one on a Mexican Jazz. -
I use a 1ft patch cable to connect my Korg tuner to my rack mounted Ampeg head.
-
I think this is a Japanese 60s reissue. The tuners (especially the posts), bridge and the diagonal earthing strap from bridge to bridge pickup make me thing this.
I didn't see the photo first time round... Yep, that looks like an after market decal that's been applied uncut. It should look something like this (as far as I'm aware)...
Yup, the logo on the first pic is not quite right. It's a sort of cross between a 1960 and a 1961 logo.
The second pic looks like a [genuine] pre 66 logo, although those tuners ain't right as far as I'm aware. -
According to the website it's on behalf of the liquidators acting for piedog.com , who went bottomsup.com a few months
ago apparently.
Really? That's a shame. Hope people can get a bargain. Can you bid online by any chance? -
Nope. Some have it on the neck plate. Some even have it stamped on the bridge. Even on the headstock it can be on the front or the back depending on year, factory etc.
That logo is a copy I think or on a reissue. -
Excellent stuff chaps - sounds like I made a good choice. I'll let you know how it goes.
-
I'm all in favour of this. The mods are trying stuff out and if nothing else it's making us think a little more carefully about what we write and how we write it. Seeing as we are a 'family' forum then I feel we should do our best to set a good example. There are young people on here, just as there were on BW.
A common notion, but a flawed one. The single most limiting factor in volume achieved is the driver's displacement capability. The average 12 is displacement limited to about 50 watts in the low frequencies, anything more than that only leads to [horse and cart]ing out at the least, blown drivers at worst. If it's not loud enough there is no replacement for displacement.
I take your point entirely but I wasn't suggesting a single 12" cab, merely a single 4ohm cab. The number of speakers in the cabinet is up to Rumble. -
It's probably come up before on some earlier incarnations of this forum but has anyone any experience of this German shop? I use Thomann quite a bit but I'm after a particular combo that no one in this country sells and neither do Thomann.
The Music Store guys seem to be pretty efficient so far but I've yet to take delivery....
The very important 'need' is that bassists who can't play bass very well need to be playing through a cab like an 8x10, because regardless of what they play it LOOKS impressive.
Is that why Nicky Wire plays with 4 8x10s laid sideways....? -
Get a 4 ohm cab. Less to carry and you use the full power of your amp.
-
Accurancy doesn't mean squat if all the members in the band are using different tuners!
In no way is the 8 (or 6) x 10 redundant. Oh no siree.
There is a very real, and very important need for them in the world. Almost as important as Doctors, and Dentists.
Which is?
The only time you see them nowadays is with touring bands who have roadies to do the work. As Warwickhunt says, most bassplayers who are responsible for carrying their own gear simply aren't interested.
And I say that as someone who gigs regularly with an Ampeg 610HLF...

Digital Village in Cambridge leant me a pair of monitor speakers for a weekend from their display as I needed some urgently but wanted to buy a set from them that they didn't have in stock. So, ultimately they helped me out because of my bad planning, no other reason, as they still got the sale. Good people
