Total Watts

  1. I'd buy it in a heartbeat but I have the same head unit (amongst others) and a couple of TE cabs ( a 2x10 + 1x15) so really can't justify it. 🫤
  2. Cheers, I'm just over the border in Levy!
  3. I guess the guy doing the photography did it for 'photogenic neatness'. The leads were still in that position when I collected it but, having reconfigured them, plugged it in and played it a little, it seems to be working fine' - nothing fried, no abnormal humming, no burning smells, nothing sounding scratchy. Of course it could all sound terrible tomorrow because...lets face it, I collected it strapped onto a sack truck and brought it home to Mcr on the bus/train, so...by the time it's cooled down and warmed up a few times it could be all over the place.
  4. Collected today, gave them a brief test when I got home (at neighbour friendly volume) and everything seems to be working fine and dandy. Cosmetically they're in excellent, almost showroom condition, though the power amp has had a replacement output pot fitted a some point - one's smooth but the other's notched / graduated, like my Series 6 amp - not sure which is original.
  5. In Tua Nua's Vaudeville album, despite them being an 80s Celtic folk / indie-rock crossover band there's some shockingly funky bassmanship from Jack Dublin. Stand out track for me is 'Heaven Can Wait'.
  6. This appears to have one but it may have been added by the owner. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306528129319 TBH I can't remember many cabs having them back in the day, or if they did they didn't retain them for long. I guess many badges were rattled loose by the monster tones and left lying on a stage floor somewhere, probably out of reach of the now crippled owner who'd had to get the cab out of the venue into the van.
  7. This time last week that same amp was on for £99.99, it was re-listed on Sunday or Monday.
  8. Pete went out of his way to ship his somewhat heavy Trace Elliot combo to me, even taking a £10 hit when his preferred courier wasn't available. Also sold me his Bugera Veyron and gave me a heads up when Parcel Farce had send it south rather than north. Absolute top bloke, much enjoyable banter was had, and I'd happily buy from him again.
  9. I am, of course, working under the assumption that the vendor has tested the equipment 'as is' and finds it sufficiently free of faults to release it for sale. Obvs different vendors have different standards.....some actually turn the knobs, plug in an instrument and play, others just sit there looking for a fault for the sake of it.
  10. I bagged it....had to take a punt on this as I've coveted TE gear since I was a kid in a band who longed after the decent stuff, but had to make do and mend with whatever we could find in house clearance sales.
  11. I was also at that gig - Gabriele and her band were superb, she's 65 and bouncing around the stage like a 19 year old for almost two hours.
  12. Hi all, I thought it was time I introduced myself, esp as I've been lurking for a few weeks and devouring the wealth of knowledge and information in various threads. I'm AJ (Aubrey) and am based in south Manchester. I've recently rekindled my relationship with all things bass having spent the previous 30+ years without playing so much as a note, so am now in the process of catching up with three decades of evolution. Anyway, a bit about me - I was in a couple of post school bands, mainly garage/rehearsal room outfits in the late 80s/early 90s - we gigged here and there but never with any regularity. The bands ebbed and flowed depending upon university holidays, and eventually dissolved as folk graduated and moved away. Most of our gear was home made (from Maplin kits and the like) and my valve hi-fi enthusiast father was a dab hand at reviving various amps found in junk shops and house clearance sales. So having come from that DIY background I've loved reading about the BassChat and LockDown cab builds, and the various valve amp build diaries. That said, since returning from hiatus I've managed to acquire a few bits and pieces I'd have loved to own back in the day, namely an Aria SB1000 and a couple of 1980s Trace Elliot amps (including a BLX-80 combo - £79 from Cash Converters!) for which my back has not forgiven me.
  13. I recently acquired a SR750 NTF via Reverb - it's the best sounding bass I own, much prefer it to my Aria SB1000 RI.
