Being new to bass I can read tab (who can't) but thought I will have a go at reading 'proper like music init'...and this sounds wrong to me...


I have:

E-F-G-B-G-E.....E-F-G-B-G-E....D natural-D-C-C-A-C and so on but there are sharps at the very start of the 1st bar..what do these denote.... too sharp everything on that line (stave)?

...had packages checked by Customs, this can delay the item for some time and they aren't wrapped up too well afterwards too...also if you declare/insure for a s/h and they check you will be upset ....customs have experts who know the value of any given US car, no doubt there will be a guy who knows bass.....and with the internet it really is so easy to check.

I even had some golfballs opened up

For whats it's worth....transpose Fender bass for Corvette or in fact any US car as I have been running them for over 20 years now....

I run a Corvette Stingray and I'm also into Moto X/enduro bikes.....I can buy slightly 'cheaper' across the pond on both counts but, the cost is usually the same in £ as it is in $ once the part is in your hand with post/import charges/incidentals like insurance....and beware customs charges can catch up as long as 6 months later as carriers clear paperwork....been there!

[size=7]...and, and this is such a big and,[/size] you only need some bored/hungover/angry/just for a laugh idiot to post the wrong colour boot carpet liner for a Corvette to/wrong colour bass/left handed/scratched/shop demo one to realise it really isn't worth the hassle, and it's better in the long run to buy from your local supplier...and warranty...forget it!

also.....when you need a '79 wheelnut for a L-82 spec alloy/single TI E string on a Saturday afternoon you know where you can get one.

Am I alone in this...just been down the pub reading the Essex Cronicle...turned to the live music and over the weekend there are oodles of punk bands, grunge, garage indie, indie/garage/punk/grunge and everything else between and of course folk...but not funk, disco or jazz even...

...strange thing is a funk thread on here gets a great response, turn on most any radio on a car and it's tuned to a pop channel, lots of people I know love Chic, funk or anything dancy...so why no funk pub bands?

I bought an ex-demo amp from GAK....has a knob in-fill missing, no docs or proper box, was a bit dusty and saved £170....I love ex-demo!

Anyone know what this bass is?....looks like something made from left over space shuttle bits .....but I like it maybe a little difficult to play seated though....

the feel is amazing, they have a silky feeling and not at all sticky....they can encourage you to do too many slides though!

whoops, yes I forgot to add...yes totally agree you can really slap those Ernie Ball flatties too, you get a very bright pop from the G string...I just sold my RBX-374 with the EB's onboard...so my BB614 slap monster is gonna get a set of those Group III's too.....

....do they have a thick neck?....I'm no expert but I thought they would be more a slim J type neck....I haven't come across any Yamaha with a thicker P bass type neck?

fretless have my attention now...do they all sound like this VMJ fretless, or this going thru oodles of witchcraft boxes?

....obviously a great player but it's the spanky tone that I find wonderful....

this is going to sound like a real newbie light bulb moment but I never knew you could slap with a fretless bass.....I'm sure some guy told me that in Wales last year..... "it's the action of the strings on the frets that makes for that slap sound"...or I dreamt it :blush:

I've had a test drive of both passive and active and bought the BB614 active, I simply like active basses as they are so very versatile...you can make a 614 as warm, thuddy grunty or bright and jazzy as you want to. Ohh, and the bass EQ is simply amazing, also the 614 had a nicer slap tone if that's your monkey. Light bass, very quick neck, and super low action, as you can tell I love mine!

...small world No. 3 I had a guy turn to look at car on Sunday and he has played bass for some 25 years, nowadays in a Thin Lizzy Tribute band....he had fngers like eels. After kicking tyres he had a blast on both my BB...turns out he had one years ago and sold it for an old MIJ Fender P bass, always regreted selling the BB as it was his first 'real bass' but couldn't afford both....his words not mine

I'm going to throw my bass (well the cheap one I mate lent me!) out the FFFFing window if I can't do this 1st form bassline by end of today..... it's still driving me crazy....I just can't get the chorus right....even with the help of this vid...think I try something easier like Stomp Brother's Johnson

the office is getting a bit busy what with 4 bass's at the moment, as much as it pains me, as this is my first born/bass she is now on fleabay...buy it now for a BC forumite £140...I shall no doubt regret selling her, whenever I pick her up I'm amazed how easy she plays and by the depth of the tone, only for sale due the new BB-614 any questions fire away please.
