I use mine with a Barefaced Two10 (which they suggest is the equivalent of a "good" 4x10) in a band with drums, guitar and keys, and I've never got the volume knob past halfway, so I reckon you'd be fine.

Likewise! Often get told to turn down tbh.

And as @BassAdder60 said, the “big” Elf (TE1200) is 4 Ohm min as well, but Peavey did say they were testing its stability at 2 ohms…

  2. It was a great gig!

I was explaining to someone about Doug’s Trace cabs as they weren’t sure what they were - had to stop myself going into full geek mode 🤣

I thought both bands were great, though from where we were Gary Cherone did seem to be struggling to pitch a fair bit, always felt flat.

But the energy levels and musicianship on display… wow. I think MiniMert was suitably impressed, his head was bobbing up and down throughout 😎

Great to see @cetera briefly as we’re were looking at the (tiny!) merch stand 🙂

  3. You just have to use your ears I’m afraid. I discovered early on that getting the gain set right really made a difference to the compressor, and you can crank it a hell of a lot more than you may expect. I tend to err on the side of caution and keep it around 11-12 o’clock because I tend to run an HX Effects in front of it, with some overdrive, so don’t want to mistake amp/cab distortion for something I actually want there at war volume.

Of you’ve got an Elf, I expect it has a similar gain structure to that as I can run that input gain very high before clipping, and feel I get similar results with the TE1200 :)

I had not clocked that you had mentioned the audience singing. I was enjoying it and then BVs happened. You were hidden behind Katy so I could not see you on the mic but it had to be you because none of the others were singing. I was just wondering who was going to break it to you that BVs were just not for you :)

I avoid singing in the quieter songs as much as I can, because it isn’t that far off those audience vocals… 😆

  5. There’s some lovely audience singing on this one…

Bear in mind the previous two videos were from larger festival stages… in the smaller environments like Pizza Express he’s a lot more sympathetic ;)

As a drummist myself I found his playing pretty heavy handed. I think he was trying to release his inner Bonham

Yeah he is quite a hard hitter. I’ll find a video where he shows he can play softly :)

Great band! When I saw the first vid, I thought - why's he playing a Strat? Then I watched the second one. That's better. It's country after all.😁

    Thanks ☺️

He has a plethora of gorgeous guitars and depending on his mood and the song they all appear. He’s an incredible player and has a great feel and tone. And the songs he writes with Katy are pretty cool too 😀

Super heavy touch for the style, plus really busy in lead-ins… not much space for anyone else imo.

Fair enough. I’ve been playing in bands with him for 20 years so know his style well, perhaps I’m less aware of it these days and just compensate by being lazy and crap 😀

Pretty much all modern country music is alternative to the accepted Nashville sound of 30/40 years ago. To me as a former member of several country bands, Alt = modern or country rock.

Cool. I play for an alt-country singer then 🤓

Anyone here in an alt country band?

    Please post your vids 🤠

Alt Country… contemporary country… not sure how Katy Hurt would describe herself but I am privileged to play in her band. Here’s a couple of GoPro clips from summer festival gigs:

I don't know what it was about the Trace, but when @Merton plugged his bass in and played through it, it seemed to take the sound quality up a notch - like he was playing through a huge sound system.

Apart from my playing it sounded incredible, a really lovely pairing. If I were in the market for new cabs I’d be seriously working out how to get one of these LFSys 12” cabs.

@stevie and I did an A/B with my Two10s but of course it’s not comparing apples and apples, as the Two10 is designed to have high end roll off, a bit more distortion from the cone (I.e. it’s not trying to be ultra clean and accurate…) and the LFSys is of course designed to be accurate. I love my Two10s but the clarity and power that the LFSys was able to generate was incredible. I could see how it would work brilliantly in the mix onstage. It’s a really very very good cab.
