Ashdown feedback...having has to use the 600w Ashdown head at SKegness the other weekend through an Ashdown 2x15 cab, I was expecting something decent, boy was I disappointed, had to dime the input gain and master volume to get somewhere close to audible, underwhelmed.com

presumably there was summat amiss with the rig but as it was festival backline it wasn't my place to tinker

Doesn't sound right. I regularly use an ABM 500 and Berg 215 and it punches like a mule. Sounds like a typical festival/house backline issue and could have been: compressor on or turned up (will reduce output), shape button engaged (no mids), EQ disengaged (big vol drop) or a horrible mixture of these issues. Maybe, dare I say, shagged out gear.

Probably the cab. Put them with a decent cab (Berg, Barefaced, et al) and they are epic

  2. Noisy good fun. Pub rock covers but a generally more modern take on it, none of the usual suspects until the last few songs. A lot of stuff people wouldn’t necessarily know beforehand.

One lovely little faux pas turned out quite well… We forgot to switch the main PA on for the second set, so the vocals were only coming out of the monitors. Happily they were so f-ing loud it actually worked fine, and balanced better because we weren’t overloading the PA with the guitars and drums as well. Actually sounded better apparently 🤣🤣

  3. I’m in, with the caveat that I’m already in discussions to buy an expression pedal but with one thing and another the purchase has been pushed into this year. Is that allowed?

The only thing which may push me off the wagon this year is if the 100W Stoneham comes to fruition. Other than that I genuinely do not want or need anything for once….

    That is SO beautiful!

If it was a 30 inch I would sell a body part, but 32 just does not suit my fretting hand (Does a bad bassest blame her scale length!?).

    GLWTS!

    S'manth x

Scale length is a very personal thing - I can’t get on with anything beyond 32” nowadays! Nothing to do with blaming your tools 🤓

  5. This is very much a feeler; the ACG Mule I have for sale hasn’t moved so seeing if there’s more interest in this.

What we have here a gorgeous example of Alan’s exotic wood options - the “Fractal Mac” ebony top is crazy cool, different and interesting. When I specced this bass I was playing relatively regularly with an 80s rock band; the original plan was a stained black body but seeing this top on Alan’s Instagram brought in some spec creep…

    So, the specs:

    5 string (low B)

    32” scale

White limba body, fractal mac top

3-piece ash neck with carbon rods, asymmetric neck carve

    Rosewood board, zero radius

Reverse 1+4 headstock with matching fractal mac veneer

2x ACG Overwound reverse PB ceramic pickups (essentially a P split pickup in a soap bar case, and reversed so treble side is nearer the neck)

East/ACG P-Retro with active/passive switch, 4-way pickup select switch (bridge, both parallel, both series, neck)

Hipshot B-type bridge, 17mm string spacing

    Gotoh tuners

Currently strung with Newtone nickel strings

    Comes with Warwick Rockbag

Price is for collection from Horley, Surrey. Postage not possible as I don’t have any suitable boxes, sorry!
