Total Watts

  1. Great basses, I sold mine on here a couple of years ago, as we stopped doing anything after Covid. I have to say I really miss it, a real joy to play!
  2. For sale, a full set of Epiphone gold 2 + 2 bass tuners with ferrules, washers and screws, a bit worn for that relic look! Originally on an Epiphone Flying V bass. £15 posted in mainland UK.
  3. For sale, an Artec SBA-73C Hot Rails pick-up, it's like a mini-humbucker to replace single coil PUs on Teles and Strats and very decent. This one is surplus to requirements and it will fit the neck slot on a Tele, I am reliably informed that it will work on the middle slot on a Strat but I can't swear to that, as I've never tried it. £18 posted within the UK.
  4. Just seen this, it was very moving reading through the thread. With all the crap in the news, it's good to see the humanity. I've stuck a little something in the pot. Good luck with everything Andy.
  5. Lovely, I am very partial to the Gibson basses from this era, the Ripper, Grabber and G3 especially. The RD always seemed like a studio bass rather than a good all rounder like the others. As an earlier poster said, much underrated. GLWTS, this is very well priced.
  6. I do like a Westone, great quality for the money. I have a Thunder 1A out on loan to a mate which I really should get back. This is several notches up on that. GLWTS.
  7. Ibanez basses from this era are true quality instruments and basically bulletproof. I had '79 active Roadster bass that I used for rehearsals 10 years ago, lived in the back of the guitarist's farmers Landy, along with hay bales, horse feed and sundry other detritus (in it's battered old case) and never put a foot wrong and near enough still in tune every time. Epic! It did acquire an unfortunate slight niff of the farmyard though and when I came to shift it on, I had to let the original case go and air it out for a couple of weeks...Great basses and the Studios have so much flexibility in terms of sound.
  8. I couldn't stretch to an EB2d but I did have the Epiphone sister bass a '64 Rivoli which I sold during a skint period in the 80s to my regret!
  9. The Lakland Skyline range (second hand) is pretty good at that price point. I had a mate's 44-60 (jazz bass basically) parked at my place for a year during lockdown. It was a lot of fun, fast neck, good intonation, plenty of punch and looked good with a blocked and bound neck. It was a shame to hand it back, if I wasn't thinning the herd I'd have made an offer on it. They have P/J stuff in the range also and I've seen them at the £600-800 mark on Gumtree and the like.
  10. I've used an EHX Bass Preacher for a while now, mainly for acoustic numbers as it seems to help get through the jangly mush of the acoustic guitars and also seems to warm the tone up a little, makes the bass sound more intimate. It is quite brutal at cutting the highs but for those numbers, it doesn't matter so much, I don't really use it for anything else. And they are pretty cheap, £75-85 at the moment. I've always found EHX gear a bit hit and miss but you do get the odd gem.
  11. Sold Ash my '98 USA Sterling to twin up with the Pearl Blue/black plate/maple one he has. Very smooth transaction both ways completed in a couple of days, although I did cheat and use the work door to door couriers (at mates rates and a bottle of decent malt to the facilities manager) which made things a little less sweaty than trusting such a fine bit of kit to DHL/UPS/Parcelforce. A real gent and a pleasure to do business with.
  12. Morning all, many thanks for your comments. Now sold pending the usual.
  13. Thanks guys, it is a lovely thing. Just weighed it and it comes in at 3.45Kg, so one of the lighter ones.
