1. looks good. Been impressed with the new BB range, i'm really hoping they bring out a new neck thru BB bass like the BB 1200s, i've got two of them and one BB1200 and they really are fantastic basses....
 2.
I remember them. Solid (if a little chunky) necks, cheap & cheerful hardware and electrics, god-awful plywood bodies with 1/2 inch thick polyester all over them. Andy
I've still got mine (i think) in me ma and pa's loft if they haven't chucked it out. I think i'll dig it out and have a look for old times sake....
 3. Anyone here have one of these basses?? I found a photo of my bass collection way back when and in amongst them was a black bass made by a company called AXE (i think)... Anyway it was my first bass, and i seem to remember it was quite a good bass for a cheapo. If anyones got any info on thse basses i'd like to know
 4. Soundslive has some on order available in May http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~B...10B~ID~8340.asp
 5.
In the past I've been prettymuch underwhelmed by the stuff. I had a Bass Pod Live for a while and although the amp models and distortions where ok the effects where rubbish IMHO of course. Where as the GT6B has always impressed me, I had 3!!!
Same here I had the bass pod xt pro was alright but the effects were pants. I've had two GT-6Bs. I've just started using the amp modeling on it and have been very impressed with it. I think £350 is very reasonable I was expecting more. 6.
But that website is for schools etc., it is the educational divison of Digital Village, hence why the prices are low, they don't have VAT. Looks like it could be pretty powerful but I have to agree with kev the case looks so cheap!
Whoops I hadn't noticed it was a site for schools as I was gobsmacked at the price... Yep the colour looks a bit naff, but I think it looks sturdy enough. I've got the GT-6B which I think is fantastic so am really looking forward to having a go on the GT-10B
 7. It's £297 here http://www.mveducation.com/invt/48566/
 8. Out in April. Here's some info http://www.roland.com/products/en/GT-10B/index.html
 9.
Went and had another look today - you definitely get what u pay for.
Do you mean in terms of build quality, is worth it worth getting as an upgrading project ?? Always wanted a Stingray....
 10.
well the small clone is a little noisy for some people, if you like the sound but dont like the noise go for the EHX clone theory, aparantly its silent.
The Clone theory Pedal is not silent, i have 4 of the original pedals and a reissue Clone theory. The bet thing you could do is to run them through your effects loop if you have one. That's what i do with mine, just the effect and no hiss.
 11.
Cheers....but its staying with me for a while! BB
I thought it might. Oh well...
 12. Can anyone recommend a decent case for the Boss GT-6B??
 13.
I use an old Alembic F2B - its certainly warm and very traditional, a fantastic unit - But, it does lack midrange and this can cause problems on some gigs (particularly with cabs with a pronounced mid scoop - like most SWR/Eden/Ampeg). Also the F2B lacks any DI outputs so you have to use a passive DI box in the chain somewhere. The more "modern" F1X is a bit better equiped, (with the same eq) but only has the one channel. If you're looking for "balls", I suppose its Ampeg, but I've never liked the (rented) ones I played through. I'd also consider the Sansamp rack pre. I like the combination of an SWR 220 as a clean preamp, but with the Sansamp pedal in front for a bit of edge when needed. There's a lot of choice..and yes, they do all sound different! BB
I can vouch for the Alembic F2-B great bit of kit, out of all the gear i 've owned i really regret selling the F2-B Bassbod if you ever want to sell it i'm your man....
 14. Just got my ABM 500 combo back today... Ashdown had to replace the speaker!!

 16.
Just bought a brand new Ashdown ABM-500 RC EVO II and i used it today in practise for the first time. It was fine for about 15mins, then there was a really strong burning smell and the amp just shut down and won't turn on again!!!! Very weird! does anyone know why this might of happened? I wasn't driving the amp that hard.... the input was at about 9 o'clock and the VU meter was no where near the red, and the output volume was at 12 o'clock......
Same thing (sort of) has just happened to my NEW ABM-500 EVO II combo amp!!! in the middle of a gig!! There was a strong burning smell and the amp cut out. I still had power and i was getting an input signal (according to the V.U.) but no fecking sound! Up untill that point the amp sounded superb, i couldn't of been happier....
 17. I've just had my24 year old Yamaha BB 1200s refinished in black and thought i could live without the Yamaha decal on the head stock. The bass looks stunning in black and i think the Yamaha logo will be the finishing touch. Anyone know where i could get some made?? Here's a piccy of my red BB1200s's logo
 18.
this is why i bought the ashdown 2x10 combo cos i then new it would sit on top of the 115 cab due to the differnt cab depths (also the 115 combo is not as wide as the cabs either which would look really funny) hope they sort this for you considering how much the trace stuff costs.
your talking about the ashdown MAG range aren't you as the ABM are the same width??
 19.
Oh, I shouldve asked you Hooky too, being as you own a Pro 500, how do you find the 8/4/2 ohm rating thing? Do you find the head has enough power? After all, I do have to comete against two 100w Marshall half-stacks and the brutalist drummer I know! Thanks Andy
In all honesty Andy i've never found it to be a problem power wise. I use the trace 1153 cab quite abit and thats 8ohms, i think that pushes out 200 watts and i've never gone past 5 (half way) so if your using the peavy 4 ohm cab i think you'll be ok. i'll be interested to hear how you got on with it...
 20.
Hi guys, just wondered what and if anyone on Basschat has any viws on the Peavey Pro 500. I currently have one of the new Trace Elliot heads, and you know what its like, sometimes you start to wonder if the grass really is greener on the other side n all that, and I've had my GAS eyes opened for a little while now. The guitar shop I work in has one of these heads in at the moment, at quite an attractive price and being as I work there, I get to take it home if I like. Well, when I say home that'll mean band practice, and when I say if I like, that'll be tomorrow! I know Peavey generally get the thumbs up round here but just interested in peoples views. How do you get on with the parametric EQ's? Thats my biggest hurdle as I dont like to fiddle too much. Just not sure Id know where to begin. What do I boost and cut etc. Also, does anyone find the wattage a problem? I mean, how many companies make 4 ohm cabs (though Id like to have four cabs to get to 2 ohms it aint happening for various reasons). This is less of a problem as I hope to be going the BFM cab route soon. Thanks Andy
I use one, it's a fantastic amp well worth the money. The Parametric EQ's not that hard to get to grips with and the manual has a few suggestions to help you on your way. what i love about it is that you can turn the effects loop (and mute it ) on and off via a two way latching foot switch. I use an old Electroharmonix Clone theory which is a noisey effect pedal on it's own, but when put in the effects loop its's just the effect you hear and no hissing, superb.... no idea why that works. The one thing that i did was to change the pre amp valve as it sounds a bit sh*te (can't remember what was in it) to a vintage Mullard valve. Job done fantasic warm overdriven tone.... I use it with an old Trace 1153 cab (300 watt ) or two 1518 Trace cabs depending on the size of the venue. BUY BUY BUY you won't be disapointed.

 22.
I use a 1 x 15" (in a ABM C115 575w combo) and it sounds great! I agree about the lack of a horn... but I like that older sound ;-) Combined with a ABM 410 cab - you have it all for a great sound. Very solidly built, heavy, good drivers, what's to dislike?
yep thats what im after that older sound...
 23. I'm thinking of trading in my Trace Elliot 1215smx combo for an Ashdown C115-500 EVO II combo. How do you think they compare? How well can you overdrive the Ashdown?
 24. I've found you again, took me a while.... Anyway has anyone used the Ashdown ABM 115 cab??? What did you think? Ive heard so many different things good and bad about Ashdown that I'm a bit confused. If i do get this cab I'll be running it with my trusty Peavey Pro Bass 500 and ideally I'd like to run 2 1x15 cabs...
