Cort make many basses that never make it to their official list, however, this combo of pickups and control plate does look unusual. As @Baloney Balderdashsays, they make great basses. They also offer great value as they don't hold their prices, so could be a great, inexpensive bass to have some fun with.

They are saying they can't access, not that there is nobody there to accept delivery. Could it be that the farm is inaccessible due to the state of the track, especially with the weather we've been having. And bear in mind some Evri deliveries are by owner drivers in family cars.

Waiting in Vain, Turn Your Lights Down Low, Three Little Birds. The fact that they are preceded by Exodus and Jammin', and followed by One Love/People Get Ready puts this Bob Marley album right up there along with Marvin Gaye's What's Going On.

I think I've only been asked once about which bass players I like / influenced me. But being asked what bands I'm into is a regular topic of conversation, so perhaps this is a more useful line of discussion. To be honest, other than the really big names I don't know the names of many guitarists, keys or drummers so I wouldn't be equipped to ask the reverse question in a meaningful way.
This.
Also, I think that guitarists tend to be the ones that follow their influences closest.

Always nice to have a spare but I voted to keep the Genz, as if you really need to, you can replace the EBS with a new one.

I had a Pianet once. Sold to me in 1980 by a young chap called Django Bates. He’ll never get anywhere with a name like that, thought I…
I knew his trombonist. Tried to sign him when he was running his band Microgroove. Think he did as well as Django...

Thanks @BassTractorfor the great response. Off to listen to some Pianet recordings now. Could be my new favourite sound!

Is it possible that this could be some sort of mix? I don't know the SV-2, and don't know its capacities for mixing or for editing sounds.
See, on first listen I feel I hear some Pianet components and some Wurlitzer ones. The attack seems quite undefined though, which makes me wonder.
Maybe some closer listening tomorrow might either reveal more or tell that my initial feeling is off the mark.
Yeah, a nice sound indeed.I hoped you might contribute, thanks. Yes, I was thinking it was a blend, but know very little about what keyboards can do. There's a 'sweeter' tone in there that the Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes don't have on their own.

OK, I can see from the video that the guy is using a Korg, probably an SV2, but what do the keyboard experts think it is emulating (if indeed it is)? Sounds to my ears a bit like Fender Rhodes with some vibraphone dialled in! Whatever it is sounds great to me ears!

Whereabouts are you based @Kirstie maybe a helpful basschatter could visit and give you some idea on sales/values etc?
Some shops may (or may not) be unscrupulous enough to try and have you over…
What Andy says. There are very few bass specialists around, and it looks like you have quite a valuable collection there, especially with two Wals.

Government spu*ks away a shedload of money when NHS or various other far more important things need money spending on them. The stupid irony is that the display in some way commemorated the 75th anniversary of the NHS. Previous displays have cost £2m and this was their biggest yet.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/new-years-eve-london-2024-b2471603.htmlThere are plenty of ways of helping the NHS budget before taking away from an event that brings joy to hundreds of thousands of people. Sorting out the PFI interest payments and stopping super rich tax avoidance are just two.

gasp in awe at the hideous waste of money that was the new year firework display in London, a total slap in the face to the NHS)
Care to explain how the two are related?

Never covered any but would love to have a go at this one:
The band are sensational - got a CD of them performing as Stuff at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Just watched Respect on BBC2. Don't know if it will be on the iPlayer but highly recommended if it is. Jennifer Hudson as Aretha is excellent, the story absolutely heartbreaking, and a new star in the making, Skye Dakota Turner who played the young Aretha. Lovely references to Muscle Shoals, Jerry Wexler and the musicians. Loved it

Just going down to D-F, going up a gauge to 50-110 should be sufficient, assuming that you actually find your current set too loose. Tuning a five set string up 3 semitones sounds like trouble, plus you might have to widen the nut slots quite a bit.
This seems the sensible option. Also, check (if available) the string tensions - it is not all down to gauge. D'addario list all theirs online.

If you ever see a Carvin up for grabs, I've found (and had others agree) that they come really close to a natural valve sound. They had major reliability issues, but any that are still working (as mine is some 12 years on), then they will have passed that test! The other great thing is that they will be way cheaper than Genz or any of the other bigger names

I used the need for a backup bass on a tour as an excuse to get something different from my main bass, so 5 string fretless P with flats was backed up by a 5 string fretted Jazz with rounds.
My thinking behind this is that the vast majority of punters would not care about any slight change in tone, and it gave me variety for playing at home and recording.

Came out ok.
prep could have been better, paint sank a bit …. But what do you expect painting 24 hours later in 10degrees C. I wouldn’t do that on a car 😂I might relic it and do the acid on the hardware too, we will see. I’ve got a new bass coming tomorrow so I suspect it will be on the back burner whilst I play my new toy.
cost £100 to do, that includes a used drop D tuner… so can’t complain.
Never been a fan of tort pickguards. Not really a big fan of metallic finishes...
...absolutely love this!
And the flash of chrome from the bridge cover finishes the whole thing off perfectly. What a fabulous job.
Hope the surgery recovery is going well.

Only one that is really new to me this year is Welsh band Church Village Collective (CVC). Lovely first single, looking forward to listening to the album I got today (yes, I'm old fashioned and like listening to physical sound carriers)!

Modern day Tik Tok Whamageddon phenomenon….whatever that all means 🤓
Pretty sure this is what did. Been going for a few years now, but bigger than ever this year. Coupled with the fact it had never made the number one spot before.

Just opened the picture - when I first replied it looked like a soapbar in the J position. I can now see it is a J sitting in a route. So yes, going with the above, an early 00 GB series. Decent bass.
