1. My main cables are a pair of Klotz ones (Klotzes?) which I bought in 1987... they're still going strong, never a single problem, but when they do die you can bet your ass that none of my money will be going to the Monster people. :)

    DIY.
Some muppet tries to cure a cracked headstock by screwing a chunk of hardboard to the back of it, and this bloke describes it as 'quite a good' repair?? Ye gods, I'd hate to see his idea of 'shoddy'. :)

  3. I had a beautiful Sei Flamboyant for a while, and now have a Shuker. I priced up the Sei using the old price list, and to have it made new would have cost roughly double what the Shuker cost me. It would also have been at least 1k more than a thru-neck Shuker Elite built to the same spec. Lovely bass though my Sei was, it wasn't 1k(+20%) better than a similar Shuke would have been, and definitely wasn't x2(+20%) better than my Shuke is.
If you've just taken on a new business, I don't think you should be under any obligation to carry it on in the same way as the last owner. They should be free to cancel old bookings.
Well yes, that's true I guess. But at the very least they should have the decency to tell the acts they've been cancelled. There's really no excuse not to.

  5.
Ok, so who is entering the advertised Bass Idol? (Just so I know who to cheer for :) )
Not me. If I want to blow £20 pointlessly, I'll go put it on England to retain the Rugby World Cup.

  6. I've just had my initial flip through to check the contents... blige, I bet Rickenbacker must be well chuffed with all that advertising.
The Sei looks gorgeous and it'll be nice to see what Tony Levin has to say, but by the time I've finished reading the mag I will know far more than I ever wanted/needed to about Rickies..!

  7.
If you were that bothered by the name, you could always take the horrible, dated logo off the front grill. That's what I always used to do.
Yup, I did that too on my 4x10s. They looked loads better. They were great cabs, but the weight was ridiculous... I sold them to downsize.
The T-Max, what a superb amp that was.

  8.
W H Smith usually has it - look very carefully, it's always behind something like Oboe Weekly and Sitar Times :) .
Yup, and next to Mouse Mat World and Your Lawnmower.
