Well it does have a solid top. Anyway, I doubt very much that tonewood will be much of an issue on a violin bass strung with tapewounds!

A Shuker case?? Me want, me want!

DIY.
Some muppet tries to cure a cracked headstock by screwing a chunk of hardboard to the back of it, and this bloke describes it as 'quite a good' repair?? Ye gods, I'd hate to see his idea of 'shoddy'. -
The only Lakky I've tried is P-T-P's white DJ5... it was absolutely {insert superlative of your choice here}.

I had a beautiful Sei Flamboyant for a while, and now have a Shuker. I priced up the Sei using the old price list, and to have it made new would have cost roughly double what the Shuker cost me. It would also have been at least 1k more than a thru-neck Shuker Elite built to the same spec. Lovely bass though my Sei was, it wasn't 1k(+20%) better than a similar Shuke would have been, and definitely wasn't x2(+20%) better than my Shuke is.

Warwick? *spit*
Status is the One True Buzzard. -
But hey, a big hand to your mum for thinking of it in the first place. I don't think my mum ever even realised they were made of wood, never mind if the heating would roger them or not.

Yeah, but who needs pickups or a finish when the kneck is so smooth and use(able)..?
If you've just taken on a new business, I don't think you should be under any obligation to carry it on in the same way as the last owner. They should be free to cancel old bookings.
Well yes, that's true I guess. But at the very least they should have the decency to tell the acts they've been cancelled. There's really no excuse not to.

A new landlord not honouring the old landlord's bookings? Just plain lazy, unprofessional, breathtakingly rude. These bloody people deserve to go out of business.

Ah yes, the classic 'smiley face' EQ. Great sound, not.
I find that a bit of a boost at around the 1.4kHz level adds a nice bite to the sound. -
Awwwww the ladies, bless 'em
Ok, so who is entering the advertised Bass Idol? (Just so I know who to cheer for )
Not me. If I want to blow £20 pointlessly, I'll go put it on England to retain the Rugby World Cup.

That little cut in the mid range on your diagram will not be helping matters. It's the mids that will cut through the mix and stop you being 'droney'.

I've just had my initial flip through to check the contents... blige, I bet Rickenbacker must be well chuffed with all that advertising.
The Sei looks gorgeous and it'll be nice to see what Tony Levin has to say, but by the time I've finished reading the mag I will know far more than I ever wanted/needed to about Rickies..! -
And more to the point, what are you getting instead?
-
Don't get one then.
i think even Stu Hamm has moved over to peavey bass rigs(?).
Nope, not any more. This from an unofficial Stu Hamm website.
If you were that bothered by the name, you could always take the horrible, dated logo off the front grill. That's what I always used to do.
Yup, I did that too on my 4x10s. They looked loads better. They were great cabs, but the weight was ridiculous... I sold them to downsize.
The T-Max, what a superb amp that was. -
42 years old, I play almost exclusively 5 strings. I do a little bit of slap here and there, when there's call for it in the music, but in the main I am a pocket-dwelling groover, a bus-driver... I'm part of the Engine Room, and proud of it.
W H Smith usually has it - look very carefully, it's always behind something like Oboe Weekly and Sitar Times .
Yup, and next to Mouse Mat World and Your Lawnmower.
Monster Cables!?!

Posted
My main cables are a pair of Klotz ones (Klotzes?) which I bought in 1987... they're still going strong, never a single problem, but when they do die you can bet your ass that none of my money will be going to the Monster people.
