1.
Grog and she is gorgeous too boot she plays with lots of artist such a Kylie and Danni Minouge this is her own band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PJdHzwOTAA
That is a corking rock groove! And a great singer to boot. Thanks for sharing! Yolanda Charles my personal fave - attended a masterclass she gave at Tech Music Schools (when it was still in Acton!) when she had just started up her band the Deep MO - fantastic player, great singer. Loved all her playing with Paul Weller too.
2. Also, I defretted my jazz bass and applied 7 layers of interior grade wood varnish to the fretboard, knowing nothing about woodworking(!) and play using steel roundwounds - the fingerboard is holding up nicely, is all I know...! Took about 6 months for marks to become visible on the board - still sounds awesome and plays great after 2.5 years...
3. I'll dive in on the flat/roundwound question - I usually find flats on a fretless seriously lacking for 'mwah' factor (but what I hear as mwah may not be the same as you or others!), but yes they feel slinky and quite nice under the fingers. Definitely more of a thumpy upright vibe/tone with flats. Half rounds (or ground-wounds, are they called sometimes? could be making that up...) may well be the answer you're looking for, having a but more mwah but definitely smoother to the touch.
4. The more techniques you can put in your bag of tricks, the better I reckon. Victor Wooten's idea of 'when I'm learning a new technique, I practise everything I've ever played, using it' (paraphrased!) springs to mind also, as a good tip if you do want to try and get to grips with the fingers!
5. Hello from a person with a Scottish dad, haha! Welcome, tis very friendly indeed.
6. I used to have a Fender CJ...something jumbo electro acoustic that had a huge bassy sound to my ears. Like, really ballsy and fat. Hope that helps!
Trade for Clover Apeiron H.5?
Thanks for the offer, it's tempting but this one's for a straight sale only at the moment! Sorry, should've put that in the OP.
8. Yup, definitely HRR... Have a free bump too :-P Also I have the exact same model of Jag - incredible instrument, it's like a 70's Jazz bass on steroids. Very easy to get Marcus/Jaco type tones in amongst a bunch of other great ones! GLWTS, whoever gets this will be very happy!
9. I think it looks fantastic, but then I do like a single cut bass... Agree about proportions being a little odd - I do quite like the hippo/tongue thing this ibanez is doing though! I think the current range of Brubaker SC's have the proportions absolutely perfect.
10.
I thought it was £220 posted?
It is... But it's been for sale for so long I keep forgetting what I'm asking for it! Somebody buy it quick before the price goes up again! ;-)
