1. A couple of years ago, I bought a new Trace Elliot 715x 1 x 15" combo, with the intention of, when funds allowed, buying a 2 x 10" cab to sit on top, as shown in the brochure, to double the power output. I gigged with the combo itself a few times, and was more than happy. Anyway, when I got round to buying the 2x10 cab, I couldnt believe that it didnt fit on top of the combo, being much deeper, and certainly not as depicted in the sales literature. I politely complained to Trace (Peavey), and was told that yes, they didnt fit as I desired, the depiction in the brochure having been Photoshopped, not photographed using real items, and apologized. They were absolutely brilliant about it, and sent an engineer to my home to remove the 715x amp itself from the cab and mounted it into a new cab with 2 x10" speakers and a horn, and exchanged my 2 x 10" cab for a 15" cab (1518c). The combo now sits beautifully on top of the 15" cab, and I have the only 2 x 10" 715x ever made! I have now moved on to Genz Benz equipment, and the Trace rig is for sale. Its been gigged about 10 times, and is in as new condition, with the exception of one tiny ding on the top of the combo where something in the van toppled over onto it in transit. It comes with the (unused) 4 way pedal and slip covers, and is a chance to own something a little bit different! Being a fairly big thing, collection would be much preferred, but I'm sure I could arrange some form of delivery if needed. I would like £600 please. 2. Richard is a new member, but was excellent to deal with when he bought my Hofner Club today. No problems at all. Welcome to BassChat! Bob
 3. The Club Bass is now sold, many thanks Richard! Bob
 4.
Bob, there seem to be two current ranges of Hofner basses - the club bass at around £1,100 and the contemporary series at around £400. I assume yours is the more expensive type ? They look similar, but presumably they use diferent wood, pickups, etc ? What condition is yours in? And what is a bump ? Richard
Hi Richard. Mine is the real thing, made in Germany, presumably by hand using better quality materials, and its actually a limited edition model. Its in really good condition, and comes with a superb aluminium "bullet" case, specially fitted for this bass. From memory, I think its list was about £1,250, but you dont see many of them around. It has gold fittings which normal Clubs dont have as well. A bump is when you add a message to the thread, which then takes it back to the top of the pile (where more people see it) ! Bob
 5. Next stop ebay. Is no one interested in a bargain? Bob
 6.
Is this still for sale ? Rich
It certainly is! I keep playing it sat down, wishing I could play it stood up! Bob
 7.
AS a complete EUB novice can you (or a previous owner of this bass) let me know what the action is like and what state the strings are in (age, condition etc)? Cheers.
Hi. The strings look as good as new (I understand that the bass has been very lightly used), and the action, which is easily adjusted by screws under the bridge, is actually low for an eub. Most full size eubs I have dabbled with seem to have had higher actions. The strings are expensive D'addario Helicore Hybrids. Cheers, Bob
 8. I took this superb bass in part exchange from loudandclear recently, and really, I meant to learn to play it. After getting over my delusions of adequacy though, I quickly realized that my hands just aint big enough for a full scale eub, and my previous dalliances with a tiny little Kydd upright have spoiled me. This is really a wonderful instrument, and sounds, even in my talentless hands, out of this world. Its in brilliant condition, and has the dual pickup system (EMG mags and piezos, which can be set for plucking or bowing) with full 18v electrics. As well as a super sturdy tripod, it also has the optional (£200) endpin stand with brace which can be used instead, giving you more freedom on stage, and has a fitted gigbag with storage for the stand/bow etc. I cant fault the bass, similar models to which I have seen selling in the past for well over the grand mark, but as it was valued in the part exchange at £900, for a really quick sale thats what I am selling for. I thought it was a bargain when I did the deal, and nothing has happenned to change my mind. I just cant do it justice, thats all! 9. Alan couldnt have been more helpful. Delivered the amp I bought (which is superb!) all the way from Preston to Gloucestershire, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Cheers! Bob
 10.
Swap you a Dolphin?
Cheers Stu, but I think I may have a deal brewing with loudandclear? Bob

 12. Etienne just bought my Tacoma Thunderchief and drove all the way from the 'pool to pick it up. A delightful chap, and an absolute pleasure to do business with! Bob
 13.
I played this beauty yesterday at Bob's place- believe me, it sounds amazing! So much so, that for a moment I seriously considered taking this home instead of the Tacoma Thunderchief I had actually come to buy! It gets very close to Macca's sound with a pick, and sounds amazing fingerstyle- such a fat and woody tone! The bonus is that it's laughably light in weight as well- you could play this standing up all day and not feel any discomfort afterwards... Have a bump from me for a very nice man and a cracking bass! Etienne
Thank you for those very kind words! Its still for sale if anyone is interested? Cheers, Bob
 14. The bass is now sold, thanks. I hope you really enjoy her Etienne, and I really enjoyed your and your young lady's visit on Saturday. Hope you enjoyed Gloucestershire as well! Cheers, Bob
 15. My Kydd has now been sold thanks.
 16. This is so much fun to play! Its a 30" scale headless electric upright bass, on an extending, top class Manfrotto stand, fitted with an L R Baggs transducer. It can be played standing up, and even sitting down, and is tiny, but sounds absolutely superb. The solid body is made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is some kind of, unknown to me, figured hardwood, and it weighs almost nothing (for an eub). It has side dots, and being a short scale, you can whizz all over the fingerboard with no problems at all. Everyone who has played it at my house has really enjoyed themselves, but I have not gigged it or had any desire to sell, until now when I have decided to seriously cut back on my bass collection. The Kydd is certainly giggable, and was built in 1999. She is in very good condition, and comes with a Coffin gig bag, and a spare set of new strings. All the details are on the Kydd website, and to bring one to the UK would cost well over a grand. As with the Tacoma Thunderchief I also have for sale, I would consider a trade with a Wrawick Corvette $$, but thats the only trade I want. Otherwise, I would like £550 please. Postage will be no problem, for about £20.
 17. I imported this bass a few years ago from the States, because I had read a review that said it was the loudest, unamplified acoustic bass on the market. I dont think the reviewer was too far wrong, especially if you play it with a pick. It has a large, but very light body, solid timbers (mahogany and spruce), and is in superb condition, with the exception of one little depression on the top, under the strings near the bridge (shown in one of the photos). I have no idea how it picked that up, but strongly suspect a low speed collision with a vacuum cleaner! Its really negligible though and doesnt show when you are playing it. Its fitted with an L R Baggs system, and has a superb tone, amplified or not. Although large bodied, its very comfy to play, and comes with a fitted hardcase. This has a couple of little scars, as believe it or not, when it was sent over from the states, the seller didnt pack it at all, just stuck a label on the case and sent it as it was! I would like £475 for it please, although I would be interested a swap for a Warwick Corvette $$? Thats the only thing though. It might be difficult to post because of its size, but I'm sure we could work something out. 21.
What year is this please?
It was sold to me as a 2005 bass, which seems about right. Cheers, Bob
 22. This bass is now for sale @ £1,250. I know everyone says this, but its worth every penny..............................
 23.
Ditto, I have just fitted a set on my beloved Dolphin, and they work extremely well. Would recommend this to you as I was in the same boat recently, Fretfx are good to deal with and it is a doddle to fit and they are very subtle and work a treat. I didn't fancy someone butchering my gorgeous Warwick neck, and this was a great solution. If I remember correctly the kit cost me around 70 quid and took a couple of weeks to arrive. I have just acquired another Dolphin bass, and the previous owner had fitted a set on it, result. If you have any questions about them, let me know Cheers Stuart Hi Stuart. I have tried FretFX, both the older, led system and the new fibre optic one, and have had problems with both, I'm sad to say. The led system worked fine, but the wire connecting the leds was so thin and fragile that it broke within a few weeks of fitting it. Up till then it had worked fine on a PRS bass I had fitted it to. When I saw the new fibre optic system, I bought 2 sets (I still have one in the cupboard), but the special sticky tape for fitting the fibre optic to the neck was useless, and peeled off in no time, as well as being quite obtrusive when it was on. Seemed like a great idea, not very well executed. In addition, one of the light packs didnt work (they supplied 2 with each pack so that wasnt a major problem). I really wanted to like them, but too many problems for me, so its back to Sims. By the way, is there anyone else out there installing leds? I seem to remember there was a company on the Isle of Wight somewhere that did it? Bob
